of the daily proceedings of both branches f the
national legislature. It will be compiled with such
care, that every citizen who is interested in the'
public affairs will find it a complete synoi sis of
their proceedings, and a ready book of reference

ny me authors, whenever it is requested. These
two works will be strictly impartial, and are in
tended l be ns interesting and useful to the man
of business, and to the politician of the one paity,
as of the other.
It may be said, without rxaggcrat on, that the
next session of Congress is destined to be one ot
the most important which has taken place sine- the
foundation f the govermn. nt. It is the long ses
sion. It is th ; se-sion which will devefopu 'tie
general- plan of the pre.-ent administration, ltj
manures will stamp l he character of our institutions
for years to come. Some of the most hnpoitaut
questions which are connected with our foreigu re
lations, or our domestic concerns, w i: be present
ed for their consideration. The final measure of
ratifying the coiirtnution of Texas, which is to
consummate her admission into our Union, and the
admi-sion of her members into our public councils

our ril.it. oris with Mexico as wtl: as the final

the review of the approaching Congress. Alost

these and others will constitute a mass of business

of Congress, and nicch of the attention of the b. opl'e

of the democratic party have accepted oitice under

far distant when tbe editor intends to call other
talents to bis assistance. I3is ambition iv, to
make his paper worthy of the metropolis ol the
Union. Ha is persuaded thai, with the facliiies
which his position enatdes him to employ ; with the

and with the aid of the correspondence which he is
attempting to establish in foier n coufitrirs, a paper

Some errors he may have alr ady committed. But
upon one point, he can speak with great pleasure
and with equal freedom. The nu n v ho are administering-

is prepared to co-operate with them in the public

We fe-I a deep sense of gratitude lor the prompt
manner in w hich our political fiicno's, in eveiy sec
