Original Attachment.
It appearing t the satisfaction of the Court
that Daniel O. Warner, the defendant in this

it is therefore ordered by the Court that publi

Blake's Patent Firc-Prcof Paint.
The durability of this most valuable and ex
traordinary substance is such that it has only ar
rived at its brat and most permanent state when
all ordinary I'uints begin to turn back to powder
and rub or wash off. It is applied like ordinary
Paint, and in a few months becomes a perfect
stone v hich resists both fire and weather. Time
seems to have no influence except to make it ad
here closer and form a more perfect state.
LOOK OUT FOR FRAUD.
Thi- article has become so popular that manv
unprincipled persons who have found beds of
rotten-stone, unformed red sand-stone," or any
minerals which resemble the genuine article in
color, KiC. have published that they have found
beds of "Fire-proof Paint," which (without wait
ing to test their properties) they offer to the
public for sale, and state that they are superior
to everything, whereas none of them have been
got up more than two years, and many of them
not vet two months. I hae the statement of
more than 20 men of the highest standing in the
vicinity of the Mines, who have seen and some
of then) used these counterfeit stuffs, which says
there has been such a complete failure in all Ihe
different articles got up and offered for sale there
as " Fire-proof Paints," except mine, that mine
only is considered worth using. Besidesall this.
I have a patent upon the genuine article which
has been submitted to some of the most able
referees in the country, as alsoto the Hon. Danl
Webster, all of whom decided in the most ex
plicit terms that it was valid, and all persons
manufacturing, selling or using thi article, un
less obtained of me, would be liable tome for
damages.
Every person therefore to be safe, should 'see
that my brartd is on every package; for should
they purchase any substance which will make
the genuine"Fire-pmof Paint" (not of my manu
facture) they become liable ti a prosecution for
infringement of my Patent, and if they purchase
a useless article, they of course lose their
money.

THE FIRST FUGITIVE CASE IN CON
NECTICUT: A novel case at least in practice un
der the Fugitive from Service act, cntna
off in this city, before Charles R. Ingertoll,
tesq., U. S. Commissioner. Three run
away apprentices from the State of Newr
York, ere brought before him on Ihe
complaint of Mr John Russell, an exten
sive file manufacturer in Sing Sing, West
chester co., N. Y. alleging that unilcr
the laws of the Slate of New York" the
erv ice or labor" of the persons arrested,
was "due to him,' and that a week or two
since thtM' had absconded from that State
into the State of Connecticut, where they
had been found. The arrests were inada
in Plymouth. The indentures entered
into by the parties in Sing Sing, by which
they were bound to serve Mr Russell for
terms vary liomtuo to four years, execut
ed according to the laws of New York,
were produced and proved and the facts
of the escape and the identity of the per
sons fully made out. John S. Beach,
Ksq , appeared fur Mr Russell, and C. S.
Andrews, Ksq., for the apprentices.
The Commissioner said, the facts of the
case beinr unquestioned, that he had no
doubt timt apprenticed servants, such as
the indentures showed these persons to be
by the laws of New York, were within
the purview of the Constitutional provision
requiring the surrender of persons held
in service,' on claim of the person to whom
such service was due. That the history
of that article in 'the Convention showed
that persons 'bound in service,', were con
templated by tts frarner as within its re
quirements, and that the legislation and
practice of the Colonios before, as well as
the summary powers given to the master,
to reclaim his apprentices by the State
laws since, showed that the power
now asked to be exercised was neither
novel in legislation, nor arbitrary in its
character ; aud that in the various dis
quisitions upon this provision of the Con
stitution, he had never seen it questioned,
that white men as well as black men, and
servants for years as well as servants for
life, were within its objects and require
ments. A certificate was therefore given
to Mr Russell in accordance with the
Fugitive Act of 1850, and under it the
apprentices were carried back to New
York.
We understand that Mr Russell hat
suffered of late by a stampede among his
apprentices, of whom he has a large num
ber, and their subsequent employment on
wages in rival establishments and he has
availed himselfof this Act, a the only
means to put a stop to the practice.
Land Warkakts. The Charlestown
(Va. Free Press publishes a letter from
the Hon. C. J. Faulkner, member of Con
gress from that district, in which he ex
presses the opinion that a law will be pass
ed during the present session of Congress
rendering valid the assignment of bounty
land warrants. He adds :
In this view I would recommend to
you and to all other persons holding war
rants to make no contracts in regard to
them, as their value will be unquestionably
enhanced upon the passage of such a law,
and the warrants at once be converted into
cash at a fair price.' r..
Alabama and the Compromise.--Y
learn from the Mobile Advertiser that the
Senate of Alabama has passed a joint
resolution declaring that Alabama will not
support any candidate for the Presidency
and Vice Presidency, nominated by either
party iu a National Convention, unless
the Convention making the nomination
shall endorse and sustain the Fugitive
Slave law.
A Fact. Not long since in South Ca
rolina a clergyman was preaching on the
disobedience of Jonah, when commanded
to go and preach to the Ninevites. After
expatiating for some time 011 the truly
awful consequence of disobedience to the
Divine commands, he exclaimed in a voice
of thunder, that passed through the con
irega ,i!ce an electric shock,
" And are theie any Jonahs here ?'
There was an old negro present, whose
name was Jonah ; who. thinking himself
called on. immediately rose, and turning
up his white eye to the preacher, with his
broadest grin, and best bow, very rapidly
answered,
Here be one, Mssfa!'
