Silence-
Frora a volume iust nnblished in London, of
Very pleasing poetry, entitled "The Rivulet: a
Contribution to Sacred Song,' by Tfroffl&s T.
Lynch.
In silence taighly things ate WoOght--Silently
bnilded thought on though
Truth's temple greets the sky;
And, like a citadel with towers,
The soul, with her subservient powers
Is strengthened silently.
Soundless as chariots on the snow,
The saplings of the forest grow
To trees of mighty girth :
Each nightly star in silence burns,
And every day fn silence turns
The exle of the earth.
The silent frost, With mighty hand,
betters the rivers and the land
With universal chain;
And smitten, by the silent sun,
The chain is loosed, the rivers run
The lands are free again.

LET THE PUBLIC READ.
In mercy to the afflicted, and the gratitude and high
opinion I entertain of Dr Moseley, as a Surgeon and
Physician, I deem it my duty to mention the case of
my wife hoping at the same time that all persons simi
larly afflicted may be benefitted by it. In the fore
part of this year, my wife had several small lumps to
make their appearance in her breast ; they continued
to increase in size, until the whole breast became a
diseased muss, and very painful. I procured the best
medical aid in the city of Rome, and notwithstanding
the earnest and faithful attention of the most skilful
physicians, she continued to grow worse and worse
until they gave tne case up as lucurume, aim aaviseu
amputation. 1 was auviseu uy manyoi my means, to
visit Dr. W. R. Moseley. of Griffin, Ga., which I did,
and, astonishing as it may seem, he had ner entirely
cured within one month! and she is now in good
health'.! I would advise all who are afflicted with Scir
rhus and Cancerous affections, to visit the Doctor with
out delay, as I am satisfied by experience and obser
vation, that he is the most skilful physician in the
Southern States, in the treatment oi mat nornme dis

Inlialalion in Consumption.
BRONCHITIS, LARYNGITIS, and other Dis
eases of the Chest and Throat, successfully treat
ed by the Inhalation of Medicated Vapors ami Pow
ders, by aosorpuou anu consuiuuomu ircai incut, as
practised at the Stuyvesant Medieal Institute, New
lork City.
The unprecedented success winch his attended this
method of treating diseases of the Lungs and Throat
has induced us to depart Irom our usual course,
and ourselves of the columns of the press, in order to
bring it to the knowledge of such as may be laboring
under or predisposed to sueii alieetions. The dawn
of a brighter day lias at lcngiu arrived ior me con
sumptive; the doctrine of the incurability of consump
tion having at length passed aw ay. We have indubi
table proofs in our possession that Consumption in all
its stages can be cured! in the first, by tubercular ab
sorption; in the second, by the treuslorrnations of the
tnbercule into chalky and Calcareous concretions, in
the third by cicatrices, or sears. Those wedded to
the opinion's of the post may assert, that even now,
consumption is incurable, such are behind the age.
To all, this gVeat truth must be apparent, viz: that the
medicines inhaled in the form of vapor or l'owder di
rectly into the Lungs, must be much more lb ctive
than that taken into the Stomach, where the disease
docs not exist. The advantage of Inhalation in Con
sumption and Throat diseases is, that medicine in the
form of Vapor is applied directly to the Lungs, where
tliC uise ie , ill- i. n. tiv in
in restoring health, by administering to it a healthy,
lifegiving food. There is no case so hopeless that in
halation will not reach! The means, too. are brought
within the reach of all. the manner of administering
the Vapors being so simple that the invalid is never
required to leave home,, where the hand of friendship
and affection tends so much to aid the physician's
etrortt-
The Inhalation method is soothing, safe and ready
and consists in the administration of medicine in such
manner, that they arc conveyed into the Lungs in
the form of vapor and produce their action at Hie seat
of the disease. Its practical success is destined to re
volutionise the opinions oi the medical world and
establish the entire curability of Consumption.
I earnestly appeal to Ihe common sense of all afflic
ted with Lung diseases, to embrace at once the advan
tage of Inhalation, and no longer apply medicine
to the unoffending stomach. I claim for Inhalation
a place amongst the priceless gifts that nature and
art hath given us. that liourday may be long in the
land," and as the only ?-k of safety lor the consump
tive; a method not only rational, but simple and effi
cacious. Such of the profession that have adopted
Inhalation have found it efficacious in the highest de
gree, arresting the progress of the disease and woik
ing wonders in many desperate cases, in verdity, a
signal triumph of our art over this fell destroyer of
our species.
Note . Physicians wishing to make themselves ac
