Pomeroy Instantly Kill ed by Exploding Boiler. The sad and shocking news that Mr. Theo. O. Pomeroy had been killed aboot 6 o'clock by A boiler explosion at his saw mill near Creed moor was received hero ear ly Saturday morning and his brother, Mr. Jas. V. Pomeroy, left on the 8:15 a. m. train for the scene. Mr. Pomeroy lived at Creed moor and was operating a saw mill near there when the fatal ex plosion occurred. The boiler had been fired and later cold WAter was turned in is the theory of the Accident. The boiler was blown All to pieces, the plant wrecked and Mr. Pomeroy und two negro men were instAntly ' killed. Another negro man was so badly injured that he is not expected to live. Mr. Pomeroy was struck on the bttck of the heAd, had an Arm And WAS slightly scAlded. His brother took his body to Dur hAm, hAd it prepAred for burial and brought it home SAturday evening At 9:15 o'clock. The funeral was conducted Sun day afternoon by Dr. E. C. Murray from the Presbyterian church, of which deceased was a member, in the presence of a large congrega tion, and the remaidt were buried by the side of his mother in Lin wood Cemetery.
