Two Bf w gupervlsqra for Alamanre County—County Hoard lu Seaaloa. * The County Board of Education met in regular session in Graham | last Monday. This meting is not: only a regular quarterly meet- \ lng, but It Is the meeting to take "account of things done the past' scholastic year ending June 30th, and to'make plans for the coming year. Many advances have been made in various departments of the work—7o graduates from the public schools, good houses built, many houses painted, a complete school directory issued, and many other important Improvements made. But even larger things are pUftwed. Through invitation of the Su perintendent L. C. Brogden, of the State Depytment of Education, was present and offered to co-op erate with the County Buard of Education fey giving from the Peabody School Fund money to employ a Rural Supervisor for for the white schools. After hear ing Mr. Brogden's proposition the County Board readily accepted it. Following this the Superinten dent reported that he had secur ed means from the Jeans fund to employ a colored supervisor tor the colored schools of the county. So," as soon as they can be secur ed, the county will enter upon the coming year with two special su pervisors. These supervisors will endeavor to build up the schools and the communities in every pos sible way, by working with the teachers, the students, and\the people of the community. Better school equipments are to be pro vided, more beautiful grounds are to be laid out, and more thorough and more practical work is' to be done. This is a long step for "ward in the important work of Education in the county. Prof. J. B. Robertson was re elected by the Board at thi.i meet ing. The splendid work of the Superintendent during his term of. service highly Justified his re election. At the same time Mr. 8. E. Tate, who had been re elected, took the oath of office for another year. Quickly heeding the protest of Brunswick,- ~Ga„ citizens against the placing of Eugene R. Belcher, a negro, in the position of deputy customs collector in charge of the port of Brunswick, Secretary Ma- Adoo of the Treasury Department revoked Belcher's designation und named L. P. Johnson as deputy collector to assume charge there on July Ist. Belcher had been in charge under the previous admin istration. Upright Engine For Sale. An upright 8 H. P.
