Thompson and Families in Automobile Wrack. Laat Monday afternoon about 4 -tt'clock, Mess. A. J. and C. C. Thompson with their wives and children, left in Mr. W. A. Ed wards' automobile, his son driving, for Greensboro. In Greensboro they learned .that "Mutt and Jeff" would be played and stayed over for the show. Everything went well with the party, till, on their return, they reached Whit sett. Here is almost a square turn In the road. The machine was moving along at a good speed when they came to this turn unawares—too suddenly to take up the speed and make the turn in safety. In attempting to make the turn the machine got on the outfside of the curve, the machine raised and fell on its side against the outside of the side ditch. The driver did his best under the cir cumstances, by applying brakes and stopping his engine. .It was all so sudden that no one had time to think. The lights went out all was dark and suspense. Mr. Chas. C. - Thompson with his son, Master Chdrles on his lap were on the front seat with the driver. Mr. Thompson was given a hard shake up, and in extricat ing himself slightly skinned one leg Just above the ankle. His lit tle son had both knees slightly cut on the glass of the windshield. The driver escaped with slight bruises. On the back seat were the others of the party. Mr. Albert J. Thompson, and his little son, A. J., Jr., escaped with slight bruises Mrs. A. J. Thompson and little daughters Nell and Alberta were caught under some part of the piachine and it had to be lifted before she could be released. She was bruised about the face and had two teeth knocked out and was bruised about the body. Little Nell had both arms hurt and bruised, and Alberta escaped with slight bruises. Mrs. Chas. C. Thompon was bruised about the face and the skin was broken in several places, and she had one shoulder severely wrenched. The accident happened a few minutes after 12 o'clock. Dr. Dick, was procured to look after the wounded. Fortunately not a bone was broken. A conveyance was obtained and the party reached Graham about 8 o'clock the follow ing morning. The wounded are doing as well as conditions will admit and they and their friends are thankful that the results of the accident are no worse. The outing had been planned by the Messrs. Thompson and their wives for the pleasure of two or wives for the pleasure of teo or three of the children whose birthdays were either on or near the date of the accident. The Fair.
