Goley will be glad to learn that he is rap -idly recovering from an attack of I pneumonia which he developed ten ' days ago. v i ?Mr and Mrs. Comann Islev I have purchased and moved into the new bungalow on N. Maple street Just completed. It was built 'by Judge W. I. Ward, who has com menced another immediately north , of it ?Judge A. M. Stack is presiding I at the two weeks term o'f Alamance ( Superior Court which convened j Monday for the trial of civil cases. He is accompanied here by Mrs. Stack and they are stopping with ' Mrs. E. P. McCluer. ?Mrs. Jim Cates of Graham died this morning at Clinic Hospital, Greensboro, aged about 60 years. She was a daughter of Squire Robt. J. Thompson of Burlington. At this writing funeral arrangements had not been completed. ?A slow rain fell in the early part ? of last night. It was not a season, I but laid the dust and will do lots of I good. Within the past two months, ' prior to this, there have been three rains, and all combined have am ounted to only about two inches. ?In a rucus at Roobydoo on Number 62, north of Haw River. Will Leath, colored, was shot in the leg by Clay Smith. Sheriff Stock ard went to the scene and found some liquor around. It is believed liquor was at the bottom of the trouble. ? Parker property | east of N. Main St., it is learned. A new street North of the home of I. I. Henderson has been laid off thro ugh the property. Two of the , buildings have been completed, an- I other is under way and others may be built. The Staley Lumber Co., it is learned, is putting up the build ings. At present there are few, if any, Vacant homes in Graham, and we axe glad to chronicle this evi dence of growth. *-Mr. and Mrs. McBride Holt gave ? the letter's sister, Miss Ada Denny, a very delightful surprise Satur day evening on her return home from a two weeks visit in Reids ville, Greensboro and High Point. Webster and Misses Sallie, Sara and Wilmer Walker, j ?Charlie Moore's Ford sedan that | was stolen last Friday night was , found near Charlotte Tuesday, so Sheriff Stockard was advised by phone Tuesday night from police. headquarters in that city. It had been abandoned on the outskirts of that city. Sheriff Stockard chased for more than a day and at onetime was only SO minutes behind it. In the chase he touched at Martins ville, Va, The thieves followed the tactics of an old fox in swinging off on a wide curcuit to disconcert the hounds. Mrs. D.
