Dewey May gave her little daughter, Dorothy Dean, a birthday party last Thursday af ternoon, celebrating her 5th an niversary. ?The mail aud passenger train from the west, beginning last Mouday, now arrives here at 7:23 in the morning, about an hour earlier than formerly. mi -i ? Young and the Graham School faculty attended the Teachers' Convention in Greensboro last Friday and Sst urday. The school dismissed at Friday noon. ?Good delegations from here attended the football games ol Duke Wake Forest at Durham Friday afteruoou aud the Caroli na-Georgia Tech at Chapel Hill Saturday afternoon. ?Judge Thomas' court has beeu in session since Monday. Owing toan accumulation of cases in which a jury was demanded the court has been prolonged. Usually one day is sufficient to dispose of the docket. ?Mr. aud Mrs. Bascom Moore moved into their handsome new home a few days atro. It is out on No. 62 about three-fourths of j a mile west of the courthouse, and is one of the most attraci ive homes in this commuuity. ? Rev. Paul Cook, who was ! pastor of the Graham M. E j church six years ago, now at C'ul laan, Ala , will be united in mar- i riage with Miss Zola Sadie Beach j of Gleucoe, Okla., at Birming-I ham, Ala., on the eveniug of No- j vein ber 1st. ?The body of M. A. Rochellei of Greensboro was fouud under! the railroad trestle at Haw River Monday afternoon. He left his! home Saturday night. He was 47 years old. The body was bad ly broken. There was no evi dence of foul play. Tne distance from the track to the point where the body was found is about 75 feet. ? l'he recent rains have set the small streams going again. They almost dried up during the long drought, aud the community grist mills had to shut down. As an evidence that they are going again our good friend J. W. Apple (Billy), who lives just over the iiuu id urange, brougnt us some water-grown meal this moraiug, made as good as corn meal cau be made. Griffin McClure, N. F.. Sykes and Mesdames James Johustou, T. J. Koacb, J. D. Albright, Hal lie Moore, E. E. McAdams and John M. Crawford attended the furniture show in High Point last Friday. Christian Endeavorers Will Hold Quarterly Meeting. The Alamance County Christian ] Eudeavor Union will convene in their regular quarterly meeting, at 7:30 in the eveniDg, on Friday, October 28, at the Graham Meth odist Protestant church. The Chiistian Endeavor society of this church is expecting an attend ance of approximately three hun dred Endevorers and is planning a very interesting and entertain ing program for the evening. The main SDeaker for the meet ing will he Rev. Talton J. White head. Rev. Whitehead is a young Methodist Protestant minister and a very able speaker. Each society in the county has been asked to be prepared to put on a stunt, and other interesting features will be on the program. The business meeting will be pre sided over by the president: Miss Tula Paul of Burlington, after which a social hour will be en joyed uud -r the direction of Miss Myrtle Fotishee, president of the entertaining society.
