Williamson Menefee Dies From Self
inflicted Wound.
On last Thursday night, about
S:30, at Bel I e in on t Mills, where he
was employed, John Williamson
Menefee, 15, fired a pistol shot
into his temple from which he
di> d instantly. Ill health is as
cribed as thecaii'-e ot the rash
act. lie was the sou of Mrs. Km
toa Williamson Menefee of Wash
ington, D. C , and the late J. W.
Menefee lie is survived by his
wife and two young daughters;
two brothers and his mother
The funeral servce was conduct
ed from Graham Presbyterian
church, of which he was a mem
be, at 10 o'clock Saturday morn
ing. Interment in Lin wood cem
etery.
James C- McAdams Passes.
Mr. James C.Il .-Adams, 72, died
at his home here at 2:30 yesterday
afternoon. lie had been in de
clining health for several months.
At the close of J*?t year he closed
out his mercantile business and
retired. He made his home in
Graham for many years and was
a highly esteemed citizen. He is
survived by his wife, Mrs Jean
etle Neese McAdams; twodaught
ers, Mrs. J. VV. Estlow, Danville,
Va., and Mrs. J. M. Crawford,Gra
liam; three sons, E. E. and \V. A.
McAdams, Graham, and E L. Mc

Walter Cook, Durham, and a half
sister. Mrs. Kenney 1'urish, Haw
River, twelve grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be con
ducted from Graham l'resbyteriau
church at 4 o'clock this afternoon
by his pastor, liev. W. E. Harrop.

Leighton S. Walker Died Monday
Afternoon
Leighton S. Walker. 53, died at
his home here ot 2:30 Monday af
ternoon. He had been in declin
ing health for several months. He
spent the winter in Florida, hop
ing to recover his strength and re
turned home about two weeks bo
fore his deuth. He had spent his
life on his farm immediately
North of Graham, and was highly

He is survived by one sister, Miss
Daisy Walker, and two brothers,
J. Clarance Walker of Graham
and Arthur T. Walker of Greens
boro. The funeral service was
conducted from the Presbyterian
church at 4 o'clock Tuesday after
noon by his paster, Rev. W. E.
Harrop, interment following in
Diuwood cemetery. A large num
ber of relatives and friends from
a distance was present for the
last rites.
Practically all cotton growers
in Catawba county are renting
the maximum of 35 percent of
their base acreage under the ad
justment contracts.
