When this world comes to an end everybody will know it. Of nothing may we be more proud than the birds native to oar woods; of nothing should we be more zealoas. Before us is a statement from the Game Warden of lllioois, that Hong birds once abundant ia that state have been shot and trapped until the woods are silent and desolate, and there is no longer use for a game warden. : la Illinois, it may be stated, there is an English sparrow bouuty law, designed to exterminate this pestiferous little bird; bat inftead of killing out these and raak intr room and peace for the others, . the aw has worked against all the birds. Laws are not likely to do much good in this matterthe bird-killers are too young for the law; and the woods are oo broad.
