A number of our people attended the protracted meeting at ShadyGrove in Warren county last week. I ' The meeting was conducted by the' pastor, Kev. B. C. Thompson, assis- 1 ted by Kev. Mr. Moye, former pastor 1, of that charge. I understand jt was one of the best meetings held there , . |i in some time, and great good was j accomplished, there being a number]' of converts. The ^meeting closed last Friyay. Mr. Henry Speed has a very fine I field of young corn which may be classed a "brag crop." But he does t not claim that it is as good as some he has seen. o Friends of Capt. P. A. Davis will < be pleased to know that his health is improving. While Mr. Davis has j apt been confined to the boose, his impaired health has kept bim at home mote than usual for some months past^and I am glad to note ' that he is feeling better and looking 1 younger. Taylor, of Dukes, Nash county, came up Saturday, paying a short visit to his uncle, Mr. F. H-j Strickland. Edgar Frederick ar d: Sydman Williams, of Warren, spent Sunday with Edward Alston. It is very encouraging to note the rapid growth of all kinds of srops in this part of-the county- Present indications point to a fairly good yield especially cotton, with the exception of the srop on old or saudy land.
