Powell, a lawyer of thla city, died this morning at bis home here, after a%. Illness or three weeks, of typholl fewer. Dr. Powell waa a native of this community; his ancesters having lived here for generation?. His father was for a boat IB years sheriff of this ooen ty. He was of the age of thirty-seven years, and had been a member of the bar, In successful and active practice for about fourteen yean; was edu cated at Trinity College and the Uni versity Law School; he was a member verslty Law School; he waa a member 1 of the State Senate; In the year 1M9. and served (Or some time aa Mayor of Henderson, and alee as recorder of the -criminal court. He was very popular and highly regarded by all; hte death Will be learned of with cquch regret by'all classes. ?I Sr. Powell leaves a wife, the "daughter of Mr. and Mrs George B. Harris of thla city, and one child, Meiiij. a boy of about seven years. The funeral will take place tomor Ww afternoon at S o'clock, and will ??*** in charge of the bar of this city. Meeting of the bar and the coun ty ofllcers were held In the court house this morning to take steps In connection with the funeral and a committee was appointed to prepare resolutions to he presented to an ad journed meeting.
