The term food or food I stuffs as used i? the r^j^nlations sU all mean and include any articles us ed for human consumption as food or drink. The term food-handling es tablishment shall mean and Include any factory, store, hotel, restaurant, lunch room. cafe, soda fountain, ice cream parlor, vehicle, cart, or other place where foods are manufactured, prepared, transported, handled, sold' offered /or sale or given away for public consumption. Section II. Every building or room used as a- food-handling establish ment in the Town of Louisburg shall be constructed or reconstructed so ae to conform to the following regu lations: a. AU floors, walls, or ceil ings shall be of tight, sound ma terial. easily cleuned. b. All doors, windows, or o4h er openings which might permit the ingress of flies shall be cov . ered, throughout the year with tight-fitting, sound wire screen ing of not less than 12 meshes to the iach, and - all screen 'doors , shall be equipped with suitable self-closing devices. c. Every wagon, cart or other vehicle used as a food-handling establishment in the Town of Louis burg shall be so constructed as to be easily cleaned and provided with su itable and adequate equipment for the storage or display of foods which must be protected from -public han dling, flies, dust, dirt and other con tamination . Section IV. The sleeping or living quarters of any person employed in any food-handling establishment in the Town of Louisburg shall be sep arate and apart from the room or rooms where food is manufactured, prepared, stored, handled, or sold. Section V. No person, firm or cor poration shaijl serve. Bell, expose for sale or otherwise distribute in the Town of Louisburg any food stuffB. except such as may be contained in unbroken packages or containers ti ghtly closed or such fruits or vegeta bles as are usually peeled before be ing consumed, unless such food stuffs be protected at all times from public handling, flieB, duat, dirt and other luntawinatiun the use uf wlic scf eening of not less than 1,2 meshes to the inch, glass, metal, wood, or other substantial covering. Where food stuffs are displayed under a screen there shall be not less than 3 inches space between such food stuffs and such screen. Section VI. No person, firm or cor poration shall display or expose for sale in the Town of Louisburg any food inntl upon the swiewulk. ur uut side counters, or stands or vehicles, unless such food stuffs be at all times at least 2 feet from the sidewalk, floor or ground* Section VII. No person, firm or corporation shall serve, aeU, offer for sale, or otherwise distribute in the Town of Louisburg any decomposed, rotted, fermented, fllthy food stuffs or food otherwise unfit for human con sumption, and the Superintendent of shall be empowered to condemn and destroy any such foods as may be fo und in any food handling establish mem. Section VIII. Every vessel, glass, i:u"p. dish or other utensil used in the consumption of food or drink in any hotel, restaurant, cafe, lunch room, soda-water fountain, ice cream par lor,. stand, or other public eating pla ce in the Town of Louisburg shall af ter each individual service be thor oughly cleansed and then immersed in boiling water, or exposed to dry heat at 300 degrees F., or to live ste Iphh than three minutes: Provided, that in lieu of the above re quircment individual utensils for one service only may be used. Section IX. -No person suffering from any contagious disease shall work or be permitted to work in any food-handling establishment in the Town of Louisburg. The Superinten dent of Health shall have the author ity to require a medical examination, by a regularly licensed physician, of any person employed in a"tood-hand ling establishment, whom he has rea son to believe is affected with a con tagious diseaoe, and if such employee shall refuse such examination he shall not work or be permitted to work in such establishment. Section X. The Superintendent of Health or his duly authorized agents, shall have the authority to make tho rough inspections of any food-hand " liBhments in the Town of and the said Superintendent of Hea Itth ahftlfc? prftarribe such ru les for the I Inspection and rnntrnl of ?u>nttarv conditions in such establishments as he may~cTeem necessary to protect me public health. Whenever the sani tary conditions of any food-handling establishment shall, in the judgment of the Superintendent of Health, be such as Co render the establishment a menace to the public health, said Superintendent of Health shall have the authotity to forbid the sale of food stuffs from such establishment as long as such condition exists. Section XI. All regulations or or dinances or parts regulations or ordinances heretofore pnsned by the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Louisburg In conflict with these regulations are hereby repealed.
