N. C., at night AFTIB CAMPAIGN REFLECTIONS I am ashamed to say it, bat on Wednesday and Thtfrsday, May 28th and 29th. I visited parts of Franklin comity tor the first time in my life. And I had my eyes opened as to some facts about the county that I never knew before or had not stopped to consider. For one thing Franklin is mnch larger county than I thought One can leave Frankllnton, go to Youngsvllle. then to John Morris* store at Harris' cross roads, then down to Pearce's school, where a Fanklln County woman Is doing such fine, work, then on to the County Line, to Pilot, to Pine Ridge, and to Bunn. Then coming back to Louis burg cross the river into Cypress Creek township and travel only the main roads through Cedar Rock. Gold Mine, Sandy Creek, and Hayesvilie townships back to Frankllnton and he will have covered more than two hundred miles, farther than It Is fron here to Richmond. Don't believe it? Try it and Another thing, as Andy Oump says, what do the cltisen of Frankllnton for the most part know about these other townsblpsT Practically noth ing. Take Dunns and Gold Mine for Instance. It is 27 miles to Wood from Frankllnton and about the same dis tance to Pilot Not far, but they might be In another state so far as our general knowledge of the people and their conditions In these com munities are concerned. We know there are stfch places, but who lives in them and how they live Is another thing. Again Franklin County is a fine farming section. The land is fertile or capable of high fertility, lies well and is well watered. The old county conld make anything she needs, if she would only bring herself to It And she is coming. Take our friend Sykes down In Cypress Creek, has as fine a herd of Jersey cattle as yon generally find. And, oh, boy! what good milk be has, the cream half way; down the bottle. As her. old top next time you need something Invig orating, run down and get you a bot tle. I fotfnd another man In Gold Mine who has seen a light, and Is turning away from cotton and tobacco. His name is Oupton. He had five acrss In cabbage. He was bringing In S load when I was there and upon be ing asked If he sold any in Franklln ton he looked at me pnsaled like as If Frankllnton were in another state But sure 'nuff be did bring some the neat day. fine cabbage as grown any whero too.
