The club welcomes two new members. Tbat makes a total of sixty members. After the business section of the meeting the period was given over to the (Iris. They copied and then practiced one of their new two part choruses entitled "Mar-1 cheta." That is a very beautiful Spanish love sons that ? I boj? suns to his sweetheart while he was away from her. Bach member is anxious to .learn his new songs. til Interesting Chapel Procrams The students like to go to chapel especially when interest ing programs are given. On Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Miller gave a musical program. Mrs. Miller and Evelyn Stallings play ed a piano duet entitled "Charge of the Uhlans", by Carl Bohn Op. 213. Mr. Miller told- the life of Rudyard Kipling and then sang one of his poems which is set to music. He also sang a funny love song entitled "Nothing bnt Love". Last Monday Dr. FltiOerald from Louisburg gave a very helpful talk. The students felt grateful to Mrs. Forest ' Sledge for inviting him to talk to the school. ? tit Junior News The tenth grade Is working , very hard for the highest attend ance record this month. They are hoping to succeed In averag ing the highest of the school. Recently they have been studying climate and its influence in Geog raphy. It seems that each is striving to do his best, for each is working for a higher goal, that Js to be a Senior. The class welcomes Ruby Wild er back to school. She has been absent for a long time with ma laria fever and other diseases. The class also sends its greatest sympathy to Danise Wheless who is absent from school because of sickness. I i i J. 8th Grade Xeirs The members of the eighth grade welcome Lod Ella Burnette to join them. She formerly at tended Gold Sand High School. After receiving their report carda for the second time there was a great Improvement, that inspirted each member to work harder than before. t t X literary Club Xt the usual hour, the Literary Club met last Friday. A detec tive program was given. Mem bers of the club gave interesting talks on "Requirements of a Good Detective Writer," and "De tective Stories." After the ar ranged program an impromptu program was given. The club ad journed to meet again next Fri day, November 25, 1933. Xtt Just News All of the students are look ing forward to the Thanksgiving holidays. This school will have Thursday and Friday as holidays. Last week Miss Virginia Perry, a former graduate of E. B. H. S? was married to Mr. Marvin Wood, of Hickory Rock. Mr. and Mrs. Miller spent the past week-end in Henderson with Mrs. Miller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. The entire student body sym pathizes with George Earp and Mrs. Earp in the loss of Mr. Earp, husband and father. Miss Leona Raynor, fifth grade teacher at Epsom, spent the past week-end with Mrs. Forest Sledge. Each class is fighting hard for the half holiday in attendance. t t t Senior News The senior play books have ar rived entitled "The Man in the Oreen Shirt." It consists of ten characters, five men and fir? women. They will begin practic ing the plar at an early time. It i will be given on Friday night, December 22, 1933. On last Tuesday , the Seniors I were one hundred per cent.
