West Virginia, were married on Christmas Day at flvei o'clock at the home of Mrs. L. H. Kagan, the bride's mother, in Youugsvllle. Rev. H. M. Stroup of Ramseur, father of the bridegroom performed the ceremony. The living room was lovely in a setting of holiday greens, ferns, and tapers. The bride and groom entered together to the strains of the Bridal Chorus from "Lohen grin". played by Mrs. L. E. Win ston. aunt of the bride. While the wedding vows were being spoken, "Love's Old 8weet Sqng" was play ed softly. Mendelssohn's Wedding March was used as the recession al. Miss Ragan was attired in an afternoon dress of cinnamon brown crepe, with draped should ers and pointed sleeves. With this she wore a brown velvet turban with nose veil, and brown acces sories. For travelling she wore a grey crepe tunic dress, topped by a green cloth coat trimmed in brown fur, and brown accessories. Mrs. Stroup- is the only daugh ter of Mrs. Eufaula Winston Rag an and the late Luther Hawkins Ragan of Youngsvllle. She Is the grand-daughter of the late Mr. j and Mrs. Janadus C. Winston of Youngsvllle. Her education was received at Loulsburg College and Duke University. After teaching in the Youngsvllle Graded School,: she accepted a position in the Treasurer's Office at Duke Univer sity. where she has been for the , past four years. Mr. Stroup Is the son of Rev. and Mrs. H. M. Stroup of Ram- j seur. He attended Mars Hill Col lege and Wake Forest College, | where he was a member of the baseball teams. He Is a member of Kappa Phi Kappa fraternity. ! At present, he holds a position with the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Elkins. West Virginia. Those attending the wedding from out of town were Misses Mabel and Martha Stroup of Ram seur, Miss Regina Carter of Bail ey, and Miss Margaret Holden and Mr. Numa Freeman of Louisburg. Boxing Begins At Louisburg College Eighteen candidates reported (or tUe Louisburg College Boxing Team Monday and have been working out daily under the coaching of "Rip" Tutor and Oeorge Evans. Several experienc ed men were among those re porting. Those reporting were Rip Tutor, George Evans. Max Rhyne. Norman Vick, Jimmy King. Hol mes McKeethan, Wm. MacFadyen, Ward Wilcox, Floyd West, Davis Reams. Billy Daniels. Willy Ho ward, Sanford Pennington, Mal com Lewis, Flip Rees, Z. V. Steph enson, Jr., Freeman Wood, and Milford Auger. Indications point to a very suc cessful season. An eight or nine match schedule is being arranged with the leading junior colleges and prep schools of the South. Athletic Director Blng Miller Is arranging for a couple of fast matches to be put on here in Louisburg. If a sufficient number turn out for these matches, oth ers will be arranged to give the fight fans of this section plenty of action. The men will start the elimination work Thursday, in or der to find a good man for their respective positions. So far no man has any position cinched and there will be plenty of leather pushing in the next week. Manag er Sloule Chandler Is working on the schedule which will possibly be completed within the next two weeks. College Announcement Pres. A. D. Wilcox, makes the following announcement concern ing Louisburg College: The first semester of Louisburg College closes on January 21. Final examinations begin January 16. This has been the best at tended and the most successful session of Louisburg College in many years. Two hundred and sixty-three studentB have been en rolled and only a very few have dropped out. The second semester opens on Wednesday, January 22 when all students who expect to attend the second semester should register. Already many applications have been received for admittance dur ing the second semester. The dor mitories are crowded and only those who register early will have an opportunity to find accomotk tions.
