Germany and Italy Sign Pack TO POOL RESOURCES IN EVENT OF A WAR Agree To Deepen Mutual Military And Economic Relation* So That Both Could Strike Effec tively and (Quickly In Case Of Need; Will Pool All Their Mili tary and Economic Resources In Event of War In Which Either Might lie Involved Berlin, May 22. ? Germany nnd Italy today signed a terse military pact of seven articles agreeing to pool all their military and eco nomic relations that bofh could strike effectively and quickly in case of need. An official communication des cribed points of the pack as fol lows: 1. Both contracting parties agree to "consult with and arrive at an understanding on all mat ters touching their common inter-, est or the general European situ ation 2. Should their common inter ests be endangered in any way by international events the two con tracting parties "will Immediately enter upon consultations concern ing the measure to be taken for safeguarding their interests." Should the security or other es sential interests of one of the con tracting parties be threatened from the outside the other partner will "give the threatened party his full political and jiiplomatic sup port in order to remove this threat. 3. If contrary to the wishes and hopes of the contracting par ties either of them should become involved in a "militafy entangle ment with one other power or with other powers," the other con tracting party will "immediately rally to his side as an ally and sup * port him with all lys military re ?? sources on land, at sea and in the, air." 4. In order to make quick, ef-i1 ficient action possible in case of : need the two governments will j further deepen their cooperation j in the realm of the military and of military economy. } "In a similar- niMfner they will; also constant!? arrive at an un derstanding concerning other mea- 1 sures necessary for the practical execution of the provisions of this ! pact." 5. Both parties agree in the ; event of war "to conclude an ar mistice and peace only after arriv ing at a full mutual, understapd ing with each otherT 6. Conscious of the importance of their common friendships with certain other nations Italy and Germany "are determined to keep j up these relations also in the fu- 1 ture." 7. The pact becomes effective | from the moment of signature and its first period is to cover ten years. Seventy-six of these boys have some kind of crop for their project, the most popular crop?, being corn, tobacco and cotton. a!-; so a few sweet potatoes. There j are fifty-seven livestock projeits that Include pigs, calves and poul try. These boys are carrying out j their project work under the Su pervision of the N. C. Extension j Service, and they are trying to demonstrate the value of using the best methods in crop and live stock production. They are keep ing record books on these projects to determine costs of production | and profits. A number of awards, j including a Gold Watch and a Scholarship to the 4-H Short Course will be made to Club Mem bers outstanding in Project activ- 1 itlea. May 22. ? Danzig nazis eyed Berlin today for reaction Jo the killing of a German citizen of Danzig by a Pole in the first fatal bolder incident of current Polish German tension. Whether the slaying would have serious repercussions depended more upon Berlin and Warsaw than upon the free city. Marion Chodacki, Polish com missioner to Danzig, reported the incident directly to the Polish em bassy in Berlin, and it was under stood that Danzig nazis were in close touch with German officials. Officials of the free city said measures had 'been taken to pre sent a recurrence of mob action against Polish customs officials which preceded and followed the shooting at Kalthof in free city territory opposite Marienburg. East Prussia. Both the Danzig senate and Poles awaited answers to demands they had made on each other In formal protests after the incident, the details of which differed wide ly. MRS.
