Stephen set a precedent In the last court he held In Loulsburg as to the false testi mony of witnesses. MBS. A. C. CARTER Mrs. Martha Carter, widow of Algle C. Carter died at the home of her son, J. W. Carter, Satur day a. m., October 21. at 10:25 o'clock. She was 81 years of age and was preceded to the grave by her husband eleven years ago. Mrs. Carter had been a great sufferer for a long time. We all | I believe she has a crown in heav jen for she was a true Christian until the end. She la survived by a stepmoth er, Mr*. John R. Jeffreys, one son. J. W. Carter, one sister, Mrs. S. S. Ransdell, three brothers, Bob, Lee and Johnnie Jeffreys, two I half-sisters, Mrs. M. H. Moye and Mrs. J. B. No well, four half-broth ers, H. B., C. D,, O. O. and J. E. Jeffreys and seven grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. T. Averett I and Interment was made at the Bunn cemetery. Large numbers ittended both , services and the iioral tribute was especially large and pretty. The pallbearers were nephews af the deceased and were. Frank, Clarence. Thomas and William Jeffreys. Woodrow Moye and Wil lie Nowell. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.
