LOUISBURG BAPTIST
CHURCH
On Sunday, January 7th, Dr.
A. Paul Bagby, pastor, began a
series of sermons on the topic
"Journey of Life." The flrsti in the
aeries dealth with the journey.
Last Sunday he spoke on "Side
Trips and Detours." Sunday, Jan.
nary 21st he will continue the
sermon on "Side Trips and De
tours." In introducing the thought
for the morning the pastor defin
ed a side trip as a trip taken vol
untarily, and a detour as a trip
forced on one by circumstances.
Abraham took a side trip into
Egypt and showed thus a sign of
lack of faith. He had no busi
ness in Egypt. One cannot go to
Egypt and maintain standards.
Abraham came back more devout,
bat his influence upon Lot carried
Lot further away from God*and
into Sodom and Oomarrah.
Abraham forced to take a de
tour to Dan. Duty d/ove him
there. Religion, after all, Is a mat
ter of activity for things that are
high and holy. When Abraham
came back from war he met Mel
chizedek, the priest.
