Gill, of the Essoin Club, has recently remodeled herl kitchen and changed iti from an j oblong shape to the very popular j L stiaped kitchen. Part of the; back porch was Included in the| new kitchen and the remulnder of the porch enclosed to form a compact pantry for storing canned goods. The two larger walls of the1 kitchen are lined wit'h built-in j cabinets with ample storage space' for dishes, food supplies and cooking utensils. One cabinet, just beside the door to the bed room is used for cleaning equipment and another section of the same cabinet is used for overshoes and wraps. The kitchen has a south west* exposure, a glass door on the south and two windows ou the west which provide ample natural light even on cloudy days. The | walls and cabinets are painted ! Ivory while the edges of the shel ves, knobs, and handles on cabi net doors and drawers are painted red. It Is made even more at- 1 tractive by small shelves near the' window which are used for potted or cut flowers. With a double' sink, windows just above it l'or! an outdoor view, and (lowers on either side, plenty of hot and cold running water, dish washing in | Mrs. Gill's kitchen Is not drudg ery. It is an attractive kitchen 1 of which Mrs. Gill, or any woman, ; might just'ly be proud. Storage Space Major Considera tion In the Farm Home Says Miss Braxton "Storage space often presents a major problem in many farm homes," states Miss Braxton, county chairman of the Better Homes Campaign. The closet should have suffic ient natural or artificial light for , its conteuts to be easily seen. If the light from the room is not sufficient, no electricity available, < this can be accomplished by tbe i use of a flashlight hung ou a cord land tacked Just inside Mie door. 811dlng doors may be used to 1 save space In the room or to make the contents of the closet more accessible. Doors to walk-In closets should fit tightly at the boMom to keep out dust. A cabinet with horizontal shel- 1 ves Is very satisfactory for shoes, , since it can be converted into many other uses, particularly when the closet is rearranged to , meet children's needs, Miss Brax ton states. Tilted shelves or racks require less floor space than hori zontal ones, but lack the advan tages of convertibility. Drawers or trays are more convenient than shelves for the storage of folded clothing. The rod on whlctf to hang clothes should be placcd high enough to allow six inches below garments hanging from it, and to permit cleaning the floor without dlstrubing the garments. Hooks should he placed as near the door as possible, never back of tho rod. jj TAYLOR i CUSTOM - MADE ; 1 CLOTHES li ; Pick the figure you ; ;l > want to pay and we j j | promise the B E S T j j j yonr money can buy. ! : YOU CAN TRUST IMPLICITLY IN THE SERVICE WE GIVE YOU ! ; |j : Osmond Hale : :| Louisburg, N.
