hiker identified by police as Kranst
Keningsveld, aboul ,*i4. a Hollan
der of Norfolk, Va . was injured
this morning when struck by a
truck driven by Woodrow Perry,
of Rolesville.
The accident* occurred about a
half-mile from Franklititon. Ilye- j
witnesses said Keningsveld ap
peared to have jumped ill the i
path of the truck, and Police Chief i
J A. Dennis, who directed inves- I
ligation, said the driver was not
at fault and did not detain him.
The eye-witnesses told officers ,
that Perry swerved ihe truck in
an effort to avoid striking the
man.

onstration Clubs held its__tirst
meetiing of this year at the Agri
cultural building. Saturday, April
27. The general theme of the
program was Flowers. Mrs. Quen
tin Gregory. State U. D. C. His
torian, and a Club Woman from
Halifax j;ave a most helpful dem
onstration in flower arrangements
which was the high spot of the
morning program. Mrs. Gregory
exhibited a large display of flower
containers. Mosti of the containers
were soft greens, .whites and ivory
colored. She had a few blue and
clear glass containers. None of
them had contrasting colored de
signs. Mrs. Gregory said, "baskets
are the hardest of all flower con-,
tainers to arrange." A number of
'flower holders for vases were
shown and dlscassed and Mrs.
t Gregory told the women that or
