The materials needed are 3 pounds of calcium ar senate and 3 gallons of thick black-strap molasses for each acre of cotton. These materials will usually be enough to make 3 applications per acre. 3. Make a mop from an old sack or similar material by folding a piece of the sack and tacking it to a stick or slat. The mop should be about 3 inches wide and should extend about 3 to 6 inches beyond the end of the stick. Cut the end of the mop into strips about 1 inch wide. 4. In preparing the sweetened poison, first mix 1 pound of calcium arsenate and 1 gallon of water and stir thoroughly. Continue stirring and slowly add 1 gallon of molasses.
