The vacation season here andj
the date is set (or Vacation Bible
School in the Baptist Church. Be
ginning on Saturday afternoon at
2 o'clock Preparation Day will be
observed. The boys and girls are
asked to come to the church, en
roll, get Instructions about the
school uitd take part in the pa
rade.
The Vacation School session
will have its first regular pro
gram on Tuesday morning. May
21, beginning at 8:30 A. M. and
running until 11:00 A. M.
The boys and girls will get
three hours of definite Bible stu
dy. church miiBic. character stor
ies. missionary study, notebook
work, memory scripture drill,
handwork and recreation. This
year the theme of the school is
based on "Peace Education of
Young People."
The church has obtained a fine
faculty for the bovs and girls in
their work: Dr. A. Paul Bagby,

Mitchell was critically hurt, be
ing shot through the jaw. chest
and left lung, right thigh. How
ever, Dr. Herbert Perry said the]
Negro had a fair chance to recov
er. When Boone allegedly opened
ftre on Mitchell, he attempted to
shield himself behind Sid Wil-,
liams. and Williams was caught'
in the cross-fire, being wounded
in one leg. He was not injured se-;
riousl.v. Chief Face said an argu-'
ment over a woman led to the
shooting.

in Youngsvllle on Friday evening.

and coffee. The proceeds will be
used for the re-building of the
church which was destroyed by
fire in January of this year. The

1. Buy your poison materials early sb t'bey wiil be
on hand when needed.
'2. The materials needed are 3 pounds of calcium ar
senate and 3 gallons of thick black-strap molasses for
each acre of cotton. These materials will usually be
enough to make 3 applications per acre.
3. Make a mop from an old sack or similar material
by folding a piece of the sack and tacking it to a stick or
slat. The mop should be about 3 inches wide and should
extend about 3 to 6 inches beyond the end of the stick.
Cut the end of the mop into strips about 1 inch wide.
4. In preparing the sweetened poison, first mix 1
pound of calcium arsenate and 1 gallon of water and stir
thoroughly. Continue stirring and slowly add 1 gallon
of molasses. Keep well stirred and apply the poison the
.same day it is mixed.
