This program was of a very high order and the execution showed that the artists were of the first rank. Those giv ing the concert' were Mack Wal mer, pianist. Stanley Craft, Vio linist. and David Pratt. Cellist. The concert manager. Willard Matthews, was also wit-h the mu sicians. For an hour and a half, these musicians gave numbers from Mozart. Frank Bridge. Tschalkow sky. Pierue. Saiqt Saens. Brahms, Mendelssohn, and others that en raptured the hearers, and enabled them to bathe their souls in the sea of diviue harmonies. It is very seldom that a liner concert is giv en at any college. There are to be three other concert numbers during the year, i Those who miss them will lose a 1 great opportunity. Ths program' was the second of the series; the first being a lecture by Dr. A. C. Howell. Professor of Kuglisb and Biblical literature at t>he Univer sity of North Carolina. The sub ject of Dr Howell's address was "The Bible In The Stream of Life." The Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa gave its annual banquet 011 the evening of Novem ber 26, 1940. The fraternity held it? banquet at the home of Mrs. C. M. Beam and it was held in honor of the new members of the fraternity. There were twenty , present at the banquet and all en joyed a splendid Mme. The invit ed guests were the following hon orary members of the fraternity: Dr. and .Mrs. Walter Patten, Prof. G. M Oliver. Dean of Men of the College. Miss Lula May Stipe, Dean of Women of the College. Mrs. T. C. Amiek. Prof. Byerly, and several ot-her invited guests. The following program was ren dered: Welcome. A second banquet! will be held in the spring. On Wednesday evening. Novem ber 2". Professor and Mrs. V. R. Kilby entertained at a dinner par ty at- the home 'of Mrs. Beam. The party was in honor of Mrs. Kil by's mother and father. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lewis, of Troy. Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were enroute to West Palm Beach. Florida, where they will spend the winter.
