To Reduce Salary A Bill to be entitled nn Act to reduce the salary of the County Attorney and to prohibit the col lect ion of Commissions on delin quent tax sales in Franklin Coun ty. WHEREAS, the Hoard of Coun ty Commissioners of Franklin! County are now paying the Coun ty Attorney of Franklin County for his services 011 a part time basis, as County Attorney and as Solicitor of the Recorder's Court of said County, the sum of two thousand four hundred dollars (2,400) per year^_jind WHEREAS, said two thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400) per year so paid is out of propor tion to the services rendered audi to salaries paid by adjoiuingl counties 'and other counties of like size in the State; and WHEUE.VS. in the interest of economy and for the benefit of I the taxpayers of said County it isi desirable that the salary of the County Attorney be reduced in order to thus effect a savings to the taxpayers of said County: Now, therefore. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact: Section 1. That from and af ter Ma sch first . one .thousand nine hundred and forty-three the Commissioners of Franklin Coun ty shall not pay a total salary for said position of County Attorney and Solicitor of the Recorder's Court of Franklin County and for other clerical services of what ever nature and kind performed by said County Attorney, in ex cess of the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) per year for said services but said Commissioners are hereby ex pressly authorized to pay a less amount for said services of said County Attorney in their discre tion. Sec, That it shall be un lawful for the County Attorney to charge on any delinquent tax es due to the CountyAif Franklin or 011 any tax suit brought by the County of Franklin any extra fees, commissions or percentage of said taxes due said County against said taxpayers unless said] extra fees, commissions or per centage is first approved by the court. That in order to reduce the| cost to the taxpayers on all tax sales brought by Franklin Coun ty the County Attorney. County Auditor or one of the Commis sioners of Franklin County in the discretion of the Board of Com-: missioners of Franklin County, shall be appointed as Commis sioner by the court to sell said land for delinquent taxes and the court shall not' allow any com missions to said Commissioner so appointed to r the purpose of making said tax sale. Sec. 3. ' Nothing in this Act shall be construed to place any cost of said tax sale upon Frank lin County and the actual court cost of said tax sale shall be paid ?wholly by the delinquent taxpay er. Sec. 4. That all laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed. - Sec.. 5. That this Act shall be in full force mud effect from and after its ratification.
