Book Clubs Meet Mrs. Umphrey Lee was host ' ess to the Edwin Fuller Book Club on Tuesday afternoon at her home on Sunset Avenue. Mrs. L. M. Word was a special guest for this meeting. Following a short business gneeting, presided over by Mrs. R. G. Bailey, the president, Mrs. W. T. Sanderlin read an Interesting paper on the Morav ians in North Carolina. The Moravians came to North Caro lina in 17S2 and settled in Salem in 1759. The college in Salem was founded in 1772 and these people are noted for the Character of their schools and their excellency and wide scope In Education. Mjts. W. D. Jackson J"ead an article for Mrs. A. B. Perry entitled, " How to go to Church/* which stated that mere attend ance at church is not enough - the worship of God demands and deserves complete and ac tlve participation at all times. Beasley reviewed the life and works of Joel Chand ler Harris who created the beloved characters Uncle Re mus and Br'er Rabbit. At the conclusion of the pro gram a delicious dessert plate and coffee was served to four teen meml>ers. Mrs. Helen Smithwick was hostess to the O' Henry Book Club on Monday afternoon at the Murphy HouSe with eleven members present. Continuing their study of the West, Mrs. C. R.
