Rev. Hughes Speaks To Churchwomen The Reverend I. Harding Hughes, of Raleigh, was guest speaker Monday evening at the December meeting of St. Paul's Episcopal Churchwomen. Meeting at the Parish House at 7;S0, members and guests enjoyed the refreshing descrip tions, Interesting sidelights, and colorful slides as Rev erend Hughes told of his trip to the Holy Land. program arrangements were made by Mrs. Douglas House, local Secretary of Christian Education. Coffee and cookies were served at the close of the pro gram. Flat Rock Pastor Resigns Rev. Grady Faulk, pastor of Flat Rock Baptist Church, Route 1, Louisburg, N.C., since December 1, 1957, resigned last Sunday, December 1, after serving as Pastor for six years. Rev. Faulk has accepted the pastorate of Stough Memorial Baptist Church, Plnevllle, North Carolina. The resigna tion la effective December 30 of this year. During Mr. Faulk's ministry at Flat Rock the debt was paid on the parsonage, an educa tional unit completed and the sanctuary remodeled. Mr. Faulk Is a graduate of wake Forest College andSouth eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N. C. Mr. Faulk Is married to the former Bettle Graham, and they have one daughter, DeLalne, 3 1/2 years old and they are expecting another child this month. Offers Prizes For Decorations The Loulsburg Garden club will award two prizes (or the most attractive Christmas Prorations In Loulsburg and environs for 1963. The Judges will make final decisions on Sunday, December 22. This contest has proved very popu lar In the past and It Is hoped everyone will enter this year. Teenage Chat By Faye Rudd The first annual Miss Franoca Contest was held last Tuesday evening In the Frankllnton High School Auditorium. Contestants In the contest were Lang Langs ton, Susan McLemore, Eliza beth Hamm, Linda Walser, Carolyn Denton, Sandra Gos wlck, Jean Forsythe, Donna House, Brenda Merrltt, Coleen Grlssorn Peggy preddy, Jertny McGhee, Ann Pearce; Nancy Barnette, Dorothy Mc Ghee, Cynthia Dlckerson, Anne/ Denton, Sandra Echols, Ka#e Watson, and Linda Finch. Lin da Walser and Jenny McGhee "jjljk finalists, Ann Pearce wa$ ?Si?nd runner-up, Susan Mc Lemore was first runner-up, and Sandra Goswlck was select ed as Miss Francoa for 1963 64. The three phases of the contest were church wear, school wear and evening wear. Entertainment was presented by Fran McGhee and Ann May, vocal soloists; Sonja Beckham and Mrs. Iris Beckham Over ton, dancers; and Mrs. Judy Hlnton's Dance Class, Martha Ann Whitfield, Richie Whitfield, Nancy Carr, and Cheryle House. Mr. Whit Shear In was In charge of the contest. The Y. W. A's of Loulsburg Baptist Church are planning their Christmas supper for next Wednesday, December 11, at Mrs. Ralph Knott's. All you girls who are planning to go please let me know as soon as possible. The Loulsburg Bulldogs play ed their first basketball game Tuesday night against Towns vllle. Mann was hostess to the Evelyn Smlthwick Cir cle on Tuesday morning with ?lght members present. Following a short business meeting presided over by Mrs. J. B. Hlght, chairman, Mrs. W. W. Thayer was In charge of the program entitled "If We Had Been In Bethlehem." Appropriate Christmas music was played during the social hour which followed. Mrs. Mann served fruit cake topped with whipped cream, salted nuts and coffee. The Ouida Fugurson Circle met on Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. F. M. Fuller with eight members present. Mrs. Arch WUson presented an Interesting program with the topic being "If we Had Been In Bethlehem." During the social hour which followed, Mrs. Fuller served refreshments and presented each member a Christmas favor. Mitchiners HD Club To Meet The Mltchiner's Home Dem onstration Club will have Its Christmas meeting at the com munity house Thursday, De cember 12. The meeting will be at 12 noon and lunch will be served at one o'clock. Each member Is to being a covered dish. Circle No 1 . Met Monday (Frk. B.W.) Circle No. I of the WJS.CA of the Frank llnton Methodist Church met at the home of Mrs. J. E. Whitfield Monday afternoon. Following the opening pray er, Mrs. W. L. Stone read the minutes and Mrs. A. H. Vann gave a financial report. Miss Frances Wortham was In charge of the worship pro gram, "If We Had Been In Beth lehem." Miss Nellie Whitfield assisted with the presentation of the program. Special music was rendered by Mrs. Richard Whitfield, soloist. Mrs. Walter J. Cooke was welcomed as a visitor. Franklin Sub-District will be at the Frankllnton Community House at 7:30 on Monday, De cember 9. All members are urged to come. Deaths Mrs. Mary P. Ransdell Mrs. Mary Velma Stone Per gerson Ransdell, 85, of Route 1, Loutsburg, died at her home early Wednesday night follow ing a heart attack. The Loulsburg Rescue Serv ice and a Bunn physician were both summoned to her side and waged an hour and a half long battle to save her life. Mrs. Ransdell was a native of Durham County and a member of Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. The pastor, the Rev. Larry Jenkins, and a former pastor, the Rev. John M. Wood, will officiate. Interment will be in the Ransdell family cemetery near the home. Surviving are her husband, Malchus L. Ransdell; six daugh ters, Mrs. Mabel R. Medlln, Mrs. Addle Cash andMrs.Mat tls R. Harrison, all of Louls burg, Rt. 1, Mrs. R. W. Strick land, Mrs. Virginia McConnell, and Miss Eleanor Ransdell, all of Raleigh; three sons, C. H. Pergerson of Frankllnton, S. H. Ransdell and J. J.
