Decorations were in keeping with the Christmas holiday sea son, with a beautifully deco rated silver Christmas tree. Upon arrival, all cubs gath ered around the serving table with decorated tablecloth and napkins, and were served punch, cookies, and potato chips. They received favors of candy canes. After refreshments, the scouts were busy completing their individual Christmas gifts. They also completed a seasonal arrangement for shut ins. The annual High School Re citatlon-Declamation Contest was held In t^eLouisburg School Auditorium Thursday, Decem ber 12, with five schools re presented. First place honors went to Rebecca Moseley of Louisburg who presented the "Sleepwalking Scene from Mac beth" and to Roger pinnell Holmes of Edward Best School for his presentation of "Values in a Crazy World." Second place winners were Margaret Weston of Franklin ton and Larry Joyner of Louis burg. Other participants were Jean Gardner of Edward Best, Ruth Chamblee of Bunn, Mil dred Rogers and Harold Kearn ey of Youngsvllle. ; Teenage Chat i By Faye Rudd The Franklin County Recita tion-Declamation Contest was last Thursday night in the Louisburg School Auditorium. The contestants for the con tests were from Louisburg, Youngsville, Edward Best, Bunn and Franklinton. The winner of the recitation contest was from Louisburg, and the winner of the declamation contest was from Edward Best. All of you did a very godd job. We are all very proud of you. Friday night Gold Sand play ed Louisburg and won the girls' game and the boys' game. Ep som played Edward Best. Ep som girls won in ? very excit ing game, I hear, and Edward Best boys won. Louisburg will play Epsom at Epsom Tuesday night. Gold Sand will play Knightdale at Knlghtdale Tuesday night. Saturday night was the big night for Louisburg College. They had their Winter Dance in the cafeteria with "TheTas sells" playing. I believe every one had a grand time. The re freshments were delicious and I couldn't have been better. They even had Santa Clans there. Who was it that lost their shoe In the "night train?" It seems as if there was some trouble finding it. Wednesday the students of Louisburg College will be pack ing up their bags and going home for Christmas. They come back January 2. 1 know there are going to be some lonesome boys and girls while they are away. Our students away at college will also be coming home soon.
