N. C. State Symphonic Band To Appear Here The eighty-piece North Caro lina State Symphonic Band will appear here March lltat8p.m. in the College Auditorium to conclude Loulsburg College's concert series for the season. Conducted by Donald B, Ad cock, the Symphonic Band is now on Its eighth annual concert tour I of the State. Solo performers appearing with the Band are Steve Seawruht, French horn soloist, of Charlotte; Benjamin Sloan and Robert Johnson, trumpeteers, from vVaynesvllle and Wilmington. The Wednesday evening pro gram will be the same as that performed intlteReynoldsColi seurn in Raleigh March 9. The repertoire will include selec tions from Mozart, Strauss, Bi zet, Vivaldi, Sousa and others. In addition to these, several specialty compositions and military marches will be pro vided. An informal reception will honor the performers in the Social Hall of Main Building following the concert. Admittance Is by member ship only. Nancy Best Wins Oratorical Honor Nancy Best, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Best of Frank llnton, has won first place, and a check for $25.00, In the Colle giate Oratorical Contest on ? Alcohol and Related Pro grams" held at Methodist Col lege, Fayetteville. The con test is sponsored annually by the State Woman's Christian Temperance Union, local spon sor of the contest was the Stu dent Christian Association. Miss Best, a junior at Metho dist College, spoke on the sub ject "Alcohol? Its Effects and Its Cure." As a result of having won first place at the college she will compete In the state contest in Charlotte in April. Miss Best was named to the Dean's List at the college last semester. She is a member of the Interdenominational Fel lowship of Service, the Student Christian Association and the Green and Gold Masques (the college drama club). Choral Group Sings For Woman's Club (Frk. ? B. W.) The Frank linton High School Choral Group, under the direction of Mrs. Bruce Honeycutt, pre sented a musical program at the meeting of the Frankllnton Woman's Club, Thursday eve ning at the Community House. The Fine Arts Department sponsored the program. Jane Toler, Connie Toler, Judy Kearney, Margaret Weston, Susan McLemore and Lane Langston made up the Choral Group. Soloist for the evening was Lane Langston. Mrs. D. O. Langston was recognized by the club presi dent. Mrs. Langston Introduced Dr. James Rascher, a local physician, who gave an infor mative talk about the Polio Vaccination Drive.
