The last meeting was held in the home of Kathy Brown and had an attendance of approximately thirty. These gatherings are over promptly at ten o'clock. Wood 4-H News The Wood 4-H Community Club No. 1 held Its regularly monthly meeting on , Friday night. The president,. Mar garet Jones called the Meet ing to order. Patricia Mam let and Judith Gupton led In the pledges to the- American and 4-H flags. Devotional was by Charles Jones. Fifteen members and two lea ders were present (or the busi ness session and educational program. The program consisted of a talk on " How.to Be Well Groom ed" by Margaret Jones, a re port on the Franklin ?ounty 4-H Council meeting by Tony Gupton, and some pointers on safety by Mrs. Ray Lewis and Andy Lewis. Kathy Gupton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lln-wood Gupton, for writing the best story among a group of twenty-five students, was selected to receive the Read Creative Writing Medal, and Charles Keith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keith, was se lected for exhibiting the most outstanding qualities of citizen ship In hist class and received the Charles Palmer Davis Award. Wood G. A. Club Meets The Wood G.A.'s met qn Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m\ In the Intermediate Room of the Wood Baptist Church. Nine members and three leaders were present (or the program^ The president, Judith Gupton, called the meeting to order with the group singing, "He Lives on High." The devotional read ing from John 8:31,32 was read by Mary Jo Denton. Margaret Jones was In charge of the pray er calendar. A short business meeting was held by Judith Gup ton, alter which the secretary, Tony Gupton called the roll Sad read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved as read. Then Patricia Hamlet led the members In repeating to gether the G.A. allegiance. After hymn "1 gave My Life for Thee", the meeting was then turned over to the program chairmen, Ava Sue Brunette and Patricia Hamlet, who was In charge of the programs entitled, "Sweet Land of Liberty" and "U.
