Staff Photo by Clint Fuller, Locals Receive State Awards At the State Garden Club Con vention held In Raleigh last week, the Perennial Junior Gar den Club was the recipient of the Lois C. Thompson Silver Bowl Award. This award Is given to the Junior Club stag ing the best flower show In the state, during the club year, either alone or with a senior club. Also received by the Junior Club were: an Honor Roll Certificate, Junior Achieve ment Award and a blue ribbon for their year book. Mrs. Marvin Pleasants, Junior Counselor and district junior director, received a Junior achievement award for the outstanding rating sheet for the year 1965-1966. At the awards banquet the Loulsburg Garden Club won a scroll for the best open-house (Mr. and Mrs. HermanSper\cers Christmas house) without a standard certification card, Ho norable mention in the Hazel Kepler Silver Bowl for con servation of birds project and a red ribbon for their year book. Those attending the conven tion for the Louisburg Garden Club were Mrs. Mary Lum pkin, Mrs. John Mills, Mrs. Juanlta Pleasants and Mrs. Marvin Pleasants. People who read carelessly talk carelessly. Y?.li..M..X Women Voters Attend 7th Council Meet The Loulsburg League of Women Voters was represented at the 7th Biennial Council of the North Carolina League which was held at Blair House in Durham on Wednesday, April 27th. The morning session was devoted to matters of business concerning the League with emphasis on reports from the various branch presidents on what they considered their most stimulating program of the past year. Malcolm Seawell, Chairman of the State Board of Elections, addressed the group after lunch; He discussed some of the election and polling problems in North Carolina.
