Garden Club Plants Bulbs The monthly meeting of the Perennial High School Gard eners was held Thursday, No vember 10, at the home of their counselor, Mrs. Marvin Pleasants. On arriving members were served Ice drinks, roasted nuts and assorted cookies. Mrs. John Mills, President at the Louis burg Garden Club, gave the program for the afternoon on crocus bulb planting. Mrs. Mills told the piembers to plant the bulbs three inches deep and five Inches apart for a splashy show In the spring. Members of the Club went to the Franklin County Wei-' fare Building and planted cro cus bulbs along the Walkway. There will be one hundred bulbs to peep through next spring. Louisburg College Presents Derek And Ray Concert The Loulsburg College Coo cert Series opens here Nov ember 17 In the College Audi torium at 8:00 o'clock with the new puno team of Derek and Ray performing In the Ferran te and Telcher style. The Derek part of Derek and Ray Is Derek Smith from Lon don, who has been In the United States about seven years. His background Includes having played professionally with many English bands and work ing In the States with such orchestras as Art Mooney, Benny Goodman, Don Elliot, and Ralph Terry. He has been featured on several record ings as a solo pianists. Actually the partnership be gan as an accident. Derek Smith was auditioning for Marty Gold, A It R " man for RCA-Vlctor, when a young fel low from Brooklyn arrived early for his own audition. Shortly thereafter Victor promptly recorded them play lng The Sound of Music and other Richard Rodgers hits. d Ray Is actually Raymond Cohen from Brooklyn. He first started piaylng the piano whan he was three years old. As a youngster he began sitting In with jazz bands and then as a free lance pianists with the society bands of Meyer Davis and Emll Colenjan. He was al so rehearsal pianist for Van Johnson, Dorothy Sarnoff and Homecoming "Homecoming" will be held, at Wood Baptist Church, Wood, N. C. on November 20, 1966. Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., Worship Service at 11:00a.m.. Services will b$ followed by dinner at the church.
