Ruth Mercer Circle No. 2 of the Frank llnton Methodist Church met at the home of Mrs. D. O. Langston on Monday evening Mrs. Floyd Bell presided over the meeting which open ed with the singing of a hymn. Mrs. Richard Whitfield pre sented the program entitled - "The Church and People With Special Needs". After de scribing the plight of a boy in court for his first serious offense, the program leader related the reactions of four sets of parents whose son he might be. Calling attention to the fact that February 12-18 was being observed as "National Crime Prevention Week" In North Carolina, Mrs. Whitfield stressed the need for the Church and the community to be more concerned about Its youth. It Is the young people who present the gravest pro blems to community, family, courts and church today. During the business session, Mrs. J, D. Mode read the min utes and Mrs. Norrls Collins gave a financial report. Flowers were assigned for the month of March for the church sanctuary. Plans were made to serve to the local Lions Club on March 6. Assisted by Mrs. Charlie High, Jr. the hostess served Russian tea and Danish rolls during the social hour. Mrs. Virginia Patterson was welcomed as a new member. Franklinton WMU Meets (Frk.BW.) The W.M.U. of the Frankllnton Baptist Church held a Study Corse - "Forest Trails to Urban Jun gles" - on Tuesday evening at the Educational Building. Mrs. Ralph McGhee Intro duced the book and the follow lng ladles who taught the course: Mrs. B. S. Hale, Mrs. Darwin Sowers, Mrs. Tom Poole and Mrs. W. A. Shearon. A social hour concluded the activities of the evening.
