Kornegay by Mrs. John Garrett It is the pleasure of the Loulsburg Woman's Club to invite you to join them In honoring Mrs. Roger A. Kornegay as artist of the month. She has on display In the Franklin County Library a painting entitled, Spring Woods, done with a painting knife on rnasonite. She is also showing a wood carving, imaginary Bird, done in wal nut. Mrs. Kornegay is widely known as an artist, teacher and promoter of the arts in this area. She was graduated from Louisburg College and the University of North Caro lina State University. She gave private lessons at home for three years prior to 1956, at which time she started teaching art at Louisburg Col lege. For the P4?t eleven years, Mrs. Kornegay has taught art education and art history and has Influenced many young artists toward a career in art. She became Director- of the Louisburg College Art Gallery when it opened In 1956 and has served in the capacity throughout this time. Her efforts extend to Louisburg High School where she is chairman of the Louisburg High School Art Committee, working closely with the stu dents and the Parent-Teacher Association. A' member of the American Federation of the Arts, South eastern College Art Confer ence, Associated Artists of North Carolina and the North Franklinton Mr. and Mrs. Dave Secor and family spent last week at Albemarle Sound. Mr. C. Ray Pruette is a patient at Mary Elizabeth Hospital. Carolina Art Education Asso ciation, she has exhibited In both local and state shows. Mrs. Kornegay Is married to Roger A. Driver of New Hope, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Perry visited Mr. E.B. Moore Sun day afternoon. Cindy, Robin and C.G. The Frankllnton City Schools will conduct a Head Start Project for pre school children beginning Monday, June 19, 1967, in the Primary Department of the Frankllnton High School Building. The project will op erate for eight weeks and will serve all children to begin In the district during the tall of 1967 who meet certain eco nomic criteria. The children will begin activities 8:00 a.m. Monday and they will continue until 12:15 p.m. Each child will receive a light morning meal and will be served a substantial well-balanced lunch In the cafeteria. The children will be transported by two county school buses. There will be no fees or cost of any kind Involved In the program. The Head Start Pro ject Is made possible through a federal grant to the Frank llnton City Board of Education by the Office of Economic Opportunity. The teaching staff is com posed of the following: Mes dames Lucy N. Green, Mary A. Dlllard, Barbara H. Har ris, and Carolyn S. Turner.
