ALVIN R ROBERTS Franklinton Methodist Hold Conference (Frk. a W.) The first Quarterly Conference of the new year for the Franklinton Methodist Church was held at the Educational Building on Sunday evening following the Fellowship Supper. The Rev. N. W. Grant, Su perintendent of the Raleigh District, presided. He dis cussed with the local congre gation the program of the Raleigh District tor the Meth odist Church for the coining year. One goal Is that the property now belonging to the Scouts Youngsville The monthly Cub Scout Pack meeting with cubs and parents In attendance, was held Mon day night of this week with Cubmaster Mack Dement pre siding over the business ses sion. Six new cub scouts were registered at this time. Mr. Bob Rogers was re cruited to serve as leader at a Weblog group. Den Mother Mrs. D. H. Cy rus, Jr.- directed the cub scouts present In a chewing gum art show for the activi ties portion of the program. The meeting closed with songs by the groups, with Mrs. Evelyn Conyers as piano ac companist. The Cub Scouts will be having Dan meetings each Thursday afternoon immediately after school at the school building. The PTA Is sponsor for the local Cub organization. Methodist Church at Kerr Lake will be made Into a camping lite with cablna and other facilities for church planned programs. Rev. Don Lee Harris, pastor of the local church, gave an oral report about plans for the Franklinton church lor the coming year. He reported to the conference concerning plans for the church school and the Methodist Youth Fel lowship. It vac announced that church attendance and church school attendance had Increased the last few weeks. Death ? GROVER C. HORTON Graver Cleveland Horton, 58, of Rt. 1, Loulsburg, died Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. In the Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church, of which he was a member, by the Rev. Claude WeUs and the Rev. Edward Green. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a farmer. Surviv ing are his wife, Mrs. Alice Cakes Horton; three sons, Donnle Wade, Douglas and J. C.
