Weathers, Sr. received honor able mention for a knit sweat er. Easter Lily Sale In Loutsburg Saturday, the Phi Beta Lambda members, assisted by their sponsor. Miss Adelaide Johnson, were selling Easter lilies In the business section. This group is the business club of Louis burg College and reports that people generally were gen erous In their donations. Junior girls In the Youngsville community who participated in a success ful Easter Lily Sale on Sat urday April sixth, on behalf ot Crippled Children were: Tonia Walden, Carmen Scar boro, Elizabeth Kreltzer, Di ane Privet to, Llbby Brown, Claire Ann Stalllngs, Martha Lynn Bell, Janet Wall, Shelby Watson, Ellen Robbing, Jan Roberts and Deborah Ed wards. These volunteers, all mem bers of the local Junior Girl Scout Troop, met at the home Ot Troop Leader Mrs. W.M. Roberts to receive instruc tions prior to the Illy sale. YOUNG Mrs. C lyd la Wheeler Young, 58, died Sunday In Raleigh. Funeral services will be con ducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Ransdells Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Claude Welles and the Rev. E.W. Greene. Burial will be In the church cemetery. John Frederick Poythress, 53, of Miami, Fla. died Saturday afternoon. He was the son of the late John W. Poythress of Loulsburg and Mylae Young Poythress of Henderson. Funeral services will be held today at 3:00 p.m. In Miami. Surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Gladys P. Junior Garden Club Meets On Friday, April 5, the Gay Gardeners Junior Garden Club met for the regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. John Mills, Club Counselor. Penny Nash was hostess for the afternoon and served re freshments to members upon arrival. The president, Penny Nash, presided. Ellen Frlsble, Dan ette Fox, and Gaynell Harris were welcome to the club as new members. The president read a letter to the club re ceived from Mr. Person, Bus iness Manager of the Frank lin Memorial Hospital, thank ing the club for tray favors and flower arrangements placed In the hospital. College Players Win Awards Playing before a capacity audience at the Playmakers* Theatre in Chapel Hill Sat urday night, the Louisburg Players again won top ratings for play production and for acting in the State Drama Festival sponsored by the Carolina Dramatic Associa tion. The event was a tour de force for Louisburg College sophomore Walter H. Wil liamson, of Richmond, Va. Playing the aria role of The Actor In Anton Chekhov's one act play, SWAN SONG, Wil liamson, student director^ of the production, was the only college actor at the Festival to win an award in acting ? a feat he also accomplished in last year's State Festival. Other members of the award-winning Festival com petition team were: Robert Rosensteln, of Durham, N.C., playing the role of The Promp ter; Jim Davis, of Portsmouth, Va., as stage manager; Greg Williams, of Virginia Beach, Va., as electrician; and Sandl Versteeg, Louisburg, as make-up technician. The State Drama Festival -was the fifth drama festival in which the Players have ap peared; the two awards bring to twelve the number of awards won by the local group.
