State Honors f Gained By County Students Raleigh-Six Franklin County students have been honored for academic excel lence at North Carolina State University for the spring se mester. Honor students comprised 16 per cent of the NCSU spring enrollment. A total of 1,651 men and women made the Dean's List this semester. These students maintained averages of "B" or better. Cald well recognized the academic acheivements of Mrs. Gloria Holmes Dean, Archie B. Al len, Randy G. Bowers, Bruce B. Richardson, Robert T. Weldon and William L. Stone. Mrs. Gloria Holmes Dean, who graduated this semester, Archie Brown Allen and Randy G. Bowers were also cited during the semester for their excellence in academics. Mrs. Dean, majoring in English, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Holmes of Franklinton; Allen, a senior English major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Allen of Franklinton; Bowers, a 1966 graduate of Gold Sand High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest E. Bowers of Rt. 3, Louisburg and is majoring in recreation and park ad ministration. Richardson, a junior ma joring In math, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pitt Richardson of Louisburg. Stone, a senior math major, from Spring Hope, Kt. 2, is the son of Mrs. Ruby M. The Franklin Times S?'?inj All Of frmlilin County AAA Sponsors To Be Honored North Carolinians who had a part in the passage and early administration of the AAA Act of 1933 will be honored at a commemoration cere mony in Raleigh's Memorial Auditorium on Friday, June 21, at 10:00 a.m. In announcing the cere mony, Marcus B. Braswell, Chairman of the North Caro lina ASC State Committee, said the purpose of the cere mony was to honor the people who were instrument-' al in launching legislation for farm programs in the 1930's. He also said it is hoped the public can be made aware of the importance of farm pro grams to both the farmer and consumer. Braswell said that some 1200 to 1500 people are ex pected to attend the cere mony. They will be made up of a cross section of our population. They will range all the way from the pro ducers of our food to the consumers. Speakers on the program will include: Mrs. Harry B. Caldwell, Mastei-, North Caro lina State Grange; Archie K. Davis, Chairman of the Board, Wachovia Bank & Trust Company; Ray Wilkin son, Farm Relations Director, WRAL-TV; and the Honora ble L. H. Fountain, Member of the House of Representa tives.
