McDonald, Brown Speak Wedding Vows The wedding of Mia Kath leen Channel Brown and Mr. Robert Wayne McDonald was tolemnized on Saturday, November the twenty-third, at (We o'clock in the after noon at the Youngsville Bap tist Church. Offlcating at the ceremony was church minister Rev. -i,. Jervais Phillips; and the grandfather of the bride, Rev. Adrian E. Brown, Sr. of Greenville, N. C. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Wiley Brown, Sr. and the late Clellie Croom Brown of Youngsville. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. McDonald of Seaford, Delaware. A program of nuptial music was rendered by organ ist Mrs. A I DePorter and solo ists Mr. Neal Archie Brown and Mrs. A. N. Corpening. Selections rendered by Mrs. Corpening were 'The Great est of These is Love", and "The Lord's Prayer." Mr. Brown sang "All My Love." Vows were spoken before an altar decorated with palms, fern, massive white flowers and tiered candelabra bearing lighted tapers. As a Symbolization of the Union, at the conclusion of the wedding service, the bride and groom lifted lighted candles from either side of the satin covered prayer bench to light a single candle. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mal gown of Ivory silk satin and re-embroidered alencon lace, designed on the A-line silhouette, featuring long satin sleeves and high scoop neckline. Appliques of re-em broidered alencon lace de fined the empire bodice and highlighted the A-line skirt. Her detachable chapel length train as bordered with match ing alencon lace. She wore a full length mantilla of import ed illusion bordered and ap pliqued with matching lace. Miss Mary Lou Brown was her sister's maid of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Lynn Burgess, sister df the bride groom from Harrisonburg, Virginia; Miss Linda Brown, cousin of the bride from Greenville, N. C.; Mrs. Terry Smith, cousin of the bride from Parkton, N. C.; and Miss Debbie Browriof Yoy^gsviile. "Phey wonrtx trmal golvrn t>f J willow green velveteen and moss green chiffon. The sheath chiffon skirt was top ped by a velveteen empire bodice with scoop neck and short sleeves which was trim med at the waist with velvet flowers and chiffon leaves. Their veils were attached to a circle of matching velvet flowers and chiffon leaves. Miss Terry Faye Brown, cousin of the bride of Nor folk, Va., was flower girl. She wore a gown identical to that of the bridesmaids and car ried a white satin trimmed basket bearing yellow mums. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. W. K. Wilkinson of Raleigh, N. C? Mrs. Tom Par rish of Havelock, N. C., Mrs. Mike Chesson of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Eugene Clarke of Garner, Mrs. Johnny Grubbs of Greenville and Mrs. Bill Sermons of Ayden. They wore formal length gowns in complimentary tones and car ried white carnation nosegays tied with satin ribbons. The bride's bouquet was a fifteen point star created with white carnations and mums, highlighted with a white or chid in the center. Lace and satin streamers enhanced the bouquet. Bridesmaids carried bou quets of yellow mums com plimented with wheat sprays and autumn leaver. Mrs. Kathleen Croom and Mrs. Adrain Brown, Sr., grandmothers of the bride, wore white carnation cor sages. Mrs. Brown was dressed in aqua blue lace with match ing accessories and Mrs. Croom wore a grey suit with matching hat and har monizing accessories. Mr. Bill Sermons of Ayden, N. C. was best man. Ushers were Russell Foster of Kinston; Lynn Burgess of Harrisonburg, Va.; Edfred Gaskill of Washington, N. C.; Wiley Brown, Jr. of Green ville, N. C. Ring bearer was Jeff Bur gess, nephew of the groom of Harrisonburg, Va. For her wedding trip the MRS ROBERT WAVNE McDONALD bride chose a blue knit coat and dress ensemble with touches of white, and compli mentary accessories. She wore the orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. The wedding was directed by Mrs. B. H. Patterson and Mr. Honeycutt. RECEPTION A reeeptin was held im mediately following the wed ding ceremony at the home of the bride, given by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Brown, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Brown welcomed guests at the home. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Cheatham introduced to the receiving line composed of M. and Mrs. Wiley Brown, Sr., the bridal couple and bridesmaids. Mrs. Wiley Brown, Sr. wore a rose silk dress and coat ensemble with matching accessories, complimented by a white orchid K Presiding in the gift room were Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Timberlake; and at the bride's guest register was Mrs. C. V. Timberlake. Receiving in areas of the home were Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Wiggins. Rev. and Mrs. L. J. Phillips. Mrs. J. T. Allen, Mrs. A. E. Hall. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Evans. Festive bridal cakes were served by Mrs. Al DePorter and white bittersweet punch was poured by Mrs. A. C. Corpening. Nuts and mints were additional refreshments. The serving table was over laid with a lace trimmed net cloth underlined with white satin. Bridal flowers and silver candelabra bearing candelight tapers complimented the set ting. Assisting in areas of the home were Mrs. H. H. Red dick, Mrs W. M. Roberts, Mrs. G. W. Barnes and Mrs. B. H. Patterson, and Miss Addie Early. Both were enrolled in the auto mechanics program which included courses in alignment and brakes, service station work and auto parts. Their .work experience quali fies them to be auto me chanics. This family get-together commemorated six events for the family, including four birthdays, a baby shower and Thanksgiving dinner. Frankii nton PTA Presents Thanksgiving Program (Frk. B.W.) The Franklin ton High School Parent Teachers Association met in the school auditorium Tues day evening. The fourth grades, under the direction of Mrs. Lina McGhee and Mrs. Lucy Green, presented a Thanks giving program. Mrs. Bruce Honeycutt was the accom panist and music director. Mr. Roy Holland presided over a short business session. Mrs. George Kearney read the minutes and also gave a finan cial report. The Executive Commit tee's recommendations were presented and adopted. The recommendations included financial support of the school newspaper purchase of library books, maps, film strips, risers, encyclopedias, first aid kits, records and as sistance with guilded tours. The president expressed appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Johnson for their ser vice as chairmen of the Hallo ween Carnival. Attendance prizes were won by Mrs. McGhee's 4th grade and Mrs. Green's 4th grade. Tippetts Win Hawaiian January Trip Wallace Tippett, manager of Farmers Tractor and Truck Company here has won a trip for him and his wife to Hawaii. Tippett's firm copped the prize by reaching its goal in retail sales of tractors, combines and hay balers dur ing International Harvester Company's Grow and Go Sales promotion.
