Office in the Agriculture
Building In Louisburg.
One is the Franklin Coun
ty Cookbook of Favorite Re
cipes. This was compiled by
the Home Demonstration
Club Women of Franklin
County. The other cookbook
is Favorite Recipes, Old and
New, from North Carolina
Kitchens. This was compiled
by the Home Demonstration
Club Women of North Caro
lina.
Both books contain many
excellent recipes and are ideal
for wedding or Christmas
gifts. Every woman should
own a copy of each.

Top Awards
The bankers or North
Carolina have been given a
top national award for the
24th consecutive year for
outstanding service to agricul
ture through the activities of
the N. C. Bankers Associa
tion.
The County Key Banker
for Franklin County, J. H.
Talton, Vice-President, First
Citizens Bank & Trust Com
pany, was advised today that
the NCBA has won the Agri
cultural Award presented by
The American Bankers Asso
ciation for notable service to
agriculture. The award reco
gnizes the wide range of pro
jects carried on as a means of
better understanding and co
operation between the farm
and financial community.
These projects, according to
Mr. Talton, include the Short
Course in Modern Farming at
the N. C. State University
which has been attended by
over 1,800 young farmers on
scholarships provided by their
hometown banks; a farm cre
dit conference for bankers
and farmers; and a land judg
ing meet in which thousands
of FFA members participate.
News of the award was
received by Sam K. Sain,
Vice-President of American
Bank & Trust Company,
Monroe, chairman of the
NCBA's Agricultural Com
mittee. L. R. Bowers. Presi
dent of Waccamaw Bank &
Trust Company, Whiteville,
was chairman of the com
mittee last year when the
record was compiled upon
which the award was made.
NCBA President J. Paul
Ford of Belmont said the
award again shows the con
tinuing interest of bankers in
agriculture in North Carolina.
