Kearney, Tilley Speak Vows (FRK. B.W.) The wedding of MIm Marion Elaine TUley of Wake Forest and Corporal Joaeph Larry Kearney of Fort Dix, New Jeriey Was solem nized on Sunday, December 22, at four o'clock in the afternoon in the Glen Royal Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Rev. Gerald Fountain performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is tne daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. TUley of Wake Forest. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kearney of Franklinton. A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Sheron Dale, organist, and Mr. James Keith ^oloist Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an A line floor length gown of bridal satin with a square neckline, empire waist line and long sleeves of chantilly lace that came to a point. Her train was attached by a bow and was trimmed in lace. Her illusion veil was attached to a crown of pearls. She carried a bouquet of bridal roses and miniature carnations which were centered with an orchid. Mrs. John Emory of Ral eigh was her sister's matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Charlotte Franklin and Miss Pam Alford of Wake Forest. The matron of honor wore a dress of blue taffeta and blue brocade with matching headpiece and train. She car ried a cascade bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums and talisman glads tied with matching ribbon. The bridesmaids wore matching dresses of yellow taffeta and gold brocade with matching headpieces and trains. They carried bouquets identical to the matron of honor except green ribbon tied the bouquets. Wendy Kearney, sister of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a floor length gown of gold brocade and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums and talis man glads tied with green ribbon. Mr. J. C. Kearney, father of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Bobby Mendenhall of Franklinton and Freddy Daniels of Wake Forest. The mother of the bride wore an off-white dress and matching accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore an off-white suit with matching accessories. Their corsages were yellow chrysanthe mums. The bride is a graduate of Wake Forest High School and is employed at Nationwide Insurance Company in Ral eigh. The bridegroom is a grad uate of Franklinton High School. He is now serving with the U. S. Army and is stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Mrs. Jo Ann Tilley pre sided over the guest register. Mrs. Mildred Lee directed the wedding. MRS JOSEPH LARRY KEARNEY McDuffies Entertain Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Mc Duffie, owners and operators of "The Pines" rest home on East River Road, Louisburg, entertained the residents, members of the Louisburg Baptist Choir, and guests Fri day evening at a candlelight buffet dinner. Places were laid in the residents living room, the resi dents dining room and the dining room of the McDuffie home. Tables were covered with white cloths and cen tered red Christmas arrange ments or with red cloths and centered with white or silver Christmas arrangements. The home was decorated throughout for the holiday season. The buffet dinner con sisted of various meats, veg etables. several salads, pickles, relishes, breads, cake and coffee. Va., Mrs. Ruth Harris ' of Epsom and Mrs. Pattie Justice. Holiday Party Entertains Friends Youngsville - Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Allen and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hall entertained rriends with a holiday party Friday night with approximately fifty guests in attendance. A snow-laden Christmas tree in the hallway or the home was adorned with white reathered doves or peace, pas tel sugar plums and flocked pink bows. The stairway rail ing was draped with a garland or greenery caught up with pink bows matching the smaller ones on the tree. Traditional colors or red and green were used in other areas or the home. Outstand ing arrangements in the two living rooms were crescents or greenery complimented with plush red flowers placed in urns. Several candle arrange ments were centers of in terest. Mrs. Elton M. Mitchell and Mrs. E. R. Tharrington poured punch and Mrs. Susie Underwood assisted the hos tesses in serving. Refresh ments included ham biscuits, savory party sandwiches. Engagement Announced The engagement of Miss Donna Kree Lloyd to James Stewart Woodard, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Alton Wood ard of Youngsville. is an nounced by her parents. Woodard of Youngsville were hosts at an engagement party for their daughter. Donna Kree, and son, James Stewart, respect- j ively Saturday at Holiday Inn, Raleigh, N. C. They announced to their friends the engagement of Donna and James. ,A pink and white color scheme was used in the deco rations. The tablecloth was covered with white satin over laid with white brocade net and caught at the corners with white satin bows, streamers, and white wedding bells. Silver appointments were used for the serving table. Refreshments kept the pink and white color scheme also. The table held a candel abra with white candles and an arrangement of pink and white carnations, white glads and poms. Out-of-town guests were Miss Jane Smith of Charlotte, Miss Layne Perry and Miss Joanie Smith of Greenville and Mr. Allen Baker of Win ston Salem. cheese straws, fruit cake and assorted fancy confections. On the serving table was a green satin cloth overlaid with green net bordered with felt and appliqued on each corner with jeweled red felt poinsettias. A silver candela brum held tapers and an epergnette filled with green ery and tiny red flowers. Poinsettia napkins were used. High School Coach Weds Miss Barbara Jean Hawks and Mr. Tommy Eldridge Twitty spoke their wedding vows Sunday afternoon. De-" cember 22. at 3 p.m. to the Reverend Alfred T. Ayscue of Pine Level. !^. C. in the Wise Baptist Church. The double ring ceremony was used. The bride is the djwghtfr of Mr. and Mrs^-Wuliam H. Hawks of Warrenton, N. C. and the groom, the son of Mrs. Horace Twitty and the late Mr. Twittv of Warrenton, N. C. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mal gown of candlelight bridal satin, fashioned prin cess style with a portrait neckline, long bell sleeves, and an A-line skirt. Motifs of reembroidered Alencon lace beaded with pearls were ap pliqued on the sleeves, in cascades down the front of the dress, and scattered over the train which was attached at the shoulders and extended into a chapel length. Her im ported candlelight mantilla edged with matching Alencon lace was draped Madonna style. Miss Margaret Perkinson of Raleigh was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Patty Furr of Newport News, Va. and Miss Ann Thomas Gill of South Hill Va. They wore empire sheath dresses of ruby red matte velvet with match, ing headpieces and carried, bouquets of white poin settias. The bride's mother wore a Royal blue princess style dress with long bell sleeves. The mother of the groom chose a mint green dress made princess style with long bell sleeves. Mr. Lewis Murphy of Dur ham, uncle of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Wil liam J. Hawks, brother of the bride, and Robert Edmunds of Warrenton. The bridal couple, parent^, and wedding party received in the vestibule. Following a wedding, trip to Williamsburg, Va. the couple will reside at 105 Green Street, Louisburg. MRS TOMMY E TWITTY The bride is a graduate of Norlina High School and Louisburg Junior College. She will graduate this spring at N. C. Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount. The groom is a graduate of John Graham High School. Warrenton and East Carolina University, Greenville. N. C. He is teacher and coach at Louisburg High School. Have Candlelight Service Youngsville - A candelight Christmas Eve Worship Ser vice was held at the Youngs ville Christian Church con ducted by members of the church. PartTcipating on the pro gram were Mrs. Willard Tim berlake, who had the Tnvoca tion; H. H. Reddick, who read the Christmas Stojj^ from St. Matthew and St. Luke; organist, Mrs. G. E. Winston; and members of the church choir who presented special music with solo parts by N. A. Brown and Miss Libbie Brown. Mrs. Moore Entertains S. S. Class (FRK. B.W.) Mrs. R. W. Moore, teacher of the Rose Wesley Sunday School Class of the Franklinton Methodist Church, entertained the mem bers of her class at a Coffee Hpur on Monday afternoon, at her home on Chavis Street. Her home was beautifully decorated in the Christmas motif. Mrs. Moore served coffee, butterscotch bars, macaroons, German fruit cake, cheese bis cuits. stuffed dates, pecan date slices and nuts to her guests. Tbe dining room table was covered with an embroidered cut-work cloth. The center piece was an arrangement of greenery with three carolers in the middle. Velvet fruit also graced the arrangement which was flanked by red candles in silver holders. On the buffet was a sleigh filled with greenery, a minia ture Santa and miniature toys. Red tapers in silver candelabras were also on the buffet. ? About twenty members at tended the coffee hour. Franklinton Woman's Club To Meet (FRK. B.W.)
