training Dec. 20 at Ft. Polk.
La. His last week of training
was spent in guerilla warfare
txercises;^.
During his guerilla train
ing, he lived under simulated
Vietnam conditions for five
days, fighting off night at
tacks and conducting raids on
"eneny" villages. He was
taught methods of removing
boeby traps, setting am
bushes and avoiding enemy
ambushes.
Other specialized training
included small unit tactics,
map reading, land mine war
fare, communications, and
firing the M-16 rifle, M-60
machine gun and the 3.5-inch
rocket launcher.

RAISIN OATMEAL NIOCiKTS
. Makes 5 dozen
34 cup shortening', soft
(/2 CUP sut>r
2 cup firmly packed
brown sugar
1 fKK /*
2 cups sifted nil-purpose flour
teaspoon soda
y2 teaspoon sail
1 teaspoon allspice
?| 4 teaspoon cinnamon
3 4 cup dairy sour cream
1 cup quick rolled
oats, uncooked
34 cup raisins
Hifat oven to moderate (350 F>. Beat shortening, sugars and
eKTrrnuether until creamy. Sift together flour, soda, salt, allspice
and cinnamon Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour
cream, beginning and ending with the sifted dry ingredients. Stir
in oats and raisins. v?
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cooky sheets, about 2
inches apart Bake in preheated oven <350 F > about 20 minutes.
Carefully remove cookies from cooky sheets with wide spatula.
