Cub Scouts Have Award Night The Louisburg Cub Scouts met at the Methodist Church for the Awards Night Cere mony Thursday night. Those who received advan cements were:. Bobcat Pin: Randy Godfrey; Wolf Badge: Wayne Clay, Chip Davis, Don Shuping. Richard Smith, Art Stanley, Mark Stanley, George West, and Stan Jones. Those receiving Wolf Gold Arrow Points included Joey Myers, Chris Caveness, and Paul Fleming. Wolf Silver Ar row Points went to Joey Myers, Tony Wynne, and David Williams. Weblos Activity Badges went to a number of boys. Ed Washburn, Keith Shearin, Bob Strickland, Gene Smith, and Jones Perry received awards for scholarship. Keith Shearin. Bob Strickland, and Jones Perry were also award ed Athlete Badges. Sportsman and Showman Badges went to Jones Perry. The Engineer Badge was also received by Keith Shearin. For the third meeting in a row. Den I was presented the attendance trophy. At the close of the meeting. Mrs. Lucille Romero was awarded a plaque for her year of ser vice as a Deij Mother. Seven Paths Spending the weekend with Mrs. Lucy Wilder. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Collie were Mr. and Mrs. Will Blagman,_Mrs. Don McCathran and little daughter of Washington, D. C. Announcement of the pro motion of Mrs. Emma Davis, of the Louisburg Office of First Federal was made fol lowing the annual share holders meeting held Wednes day. Mrs. Davis was promoted to Assistant Vice-President and Assistant Branch Mana ger The directors again ap pointed Julius P. Timberlake. Jr.. T. Mort Harris and Ron ald P. Tharrington as mem bers of the Louisburg Ad visory Committee. . Henry Gregory. President, presided at the -shareholders meeting. He told the group that 1968 was another very successful year for First Fed-i eral. witli assets exceeding $23,500,000. "Our reserves increased by more than $107,000 and savers were paid over $850,000." Greg ory stated. Gregory pointed outr "What have made available the maximum service possible for our customers. In order to promote thrift in our service area, we have increased divi dends on certificate accounts over $10,000. to 5V4% and are offering 5% certificates on accounts between"$5,000 and $10,000. We have continued to make available funds for mortgage loans and have made every effort to invest in the best loans possible." Gregory praised the progress of the Louisburg branch office under the management of Frank A. Read, Jr. and Mrs. Emma D. Davis, and the contribution made by the Louisburg Advisory Com mittee. In closing, Gregory em phasized the importance of customer relations and prais ed the association's personnel for their contribution and cooperation. He also ex pressed appreciation to the members of the Board of Directors for their loyalty and for giving unselfishly of their time whenever needed. "Their advice, wisdom, and experience," he said, "have made a major contribution to the success of this institu tion." The membership was told, "First Federal continues to enjoy the position as the larg est savings and loan associa tlon in our area and your Board of Directors, officers, and staff have a sense of pride which automatically goes with this position. We also realize the responsibility it carries. We face 1969 with the determination that First Federal will continue to op erate on sound policies which will help us occupy the same position at the end of this |< year."
