Deaths .And Funerals MRS. JOSEPH R. LAW RENCE, SR Rocky Mount Mrs. Joseph R. Lawrence. Sr., 83, died Sunday at Park View Hospital after aft extended illness. Funeral services, wilt be conducted Tuesday at 2 P.M. at Gay-Yost Home C h apel by Rev. Johnnie Joyce. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park Born in South Hampton County, Va. She has been a resident of Rocky Mount 62 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church. Surviving are three daugh ters, Miss Elmer BerniceLaw rence, Rocky Mount, Mrs Thomas A. Dean, Louisburg. Miss Hazel Virginia Lawrence. Charlotte, N. C.; two sons, Joseph R. Lawrence, Jr., Rocky Mount, William Henry Lawrence, Indialantic, Florida; two sisters. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wood Baptist Church, by theRev. Al Sherbert. Burial followed in the family ceme tery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Delia Gupton; a daughter. Funeral ser vices for Reid Furmon Vick, 19, who died Sunday, will be conducted today at 3 p.m. at the Peachtree Baptist Church by the Rev. Rueal Westbrook. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Richard Cash, Jr. is recuperating after undergoing an operation at Rex Hospital this week. The meeting was called to order by Hersey Carroll, Vice President. He also led the group in the pledges to the American and 4-H fiages. This was followed by devotion led by Myra Harris and a song led by Kelline Hall. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Frances Driver, County Secre tary and approved by the group. - ; During the business ses sion, Myra Harris was elected County Reporter. The pro gram committee was ap proved. Those serving are Byron Harris, Mary Jo Den ton, Bryant Foster, Jacquelyn Driver. The group agr&d-that Bryant Foster should repre sent our county as a candi date for a District Officer. Mr. Parke Brown, Asst. Coun ty Agent discussed the Com munny service project mu. Polly O'Neal, Assoc. Home Economics Agent reminded the 4-Hers to begin work on their long-time record books, demonstrations, and Dress Revue garments. She also ex plained about the T.V. Ac tion Science Club. J)4rs. Mar garet Baldwin, Home Econo mics Agent gave information concerning the County talent program. Mr. Luther Baldwin, Farm Agent, introduced the speak er, Dr. R. C. Whitfield. Dr. Whitfield's topic was "Help ing Others to See." He ill ustrated his talk with slides. A "discussion period followed. The group was shown a plaque to be given.to the olub of the year after Achievement Day. Mr. Baldwin explained how a club could win this award. The meeting adjourned with the 4-H Motto.
