Scout Leaders
On Tuesday evening,
March 25, the Louisbuig Cub
Scout adult committee, den
mothers, and advisory com
mittee met. On hand to lead
the program was Jim Lacy,
Executive District Scout
Leader. The program served
as a workshop ror planning
den meetings, public relations
work, rund raising programs,
and scout outings ror the
coming year. The next major
event on the Cub Scout agen
da is the Pinewood Derby
which will be held on April
15.

Stuart Cutts of 203 Grove Street. Oxford, who are today
announcing her engagement and approaching marriage to
Eugene Howard Stallings, Jr., who is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
S tailings, Sr.. of Pine Cone Drive, Oxford, formerly of
Louteburg. The wedding is planned for June 15.

Franklin County was well
represented at all sessions of
the North Carolina Education
Association which held its
85th Annual Convention,
March 20-22, in Charlotte.
The theme of the convention
was "Education: Challenge
and Commitment".
Mrs. Margaret W. Holmes,
Assistant Superintendent and
Mrs. Mamie B. Clayton,
County Supervisor, were dele
gatei and represented the
County Board of Education.
Mrs. Marjorie Leonard, Presi
dent of the East Central Dis
trict was also a delegate.
Other county delegates were
Mrs. Jewel Bartholomew,
Mrs. Virginia Southerland,
Mr. Joe Pearce, and Mr.
James Boyette.
The key addresses were
