For the past few years many producers have in creased their farm storage by erecting metal grain bins and installing drying equipment. AS?S administers the farm storage facility loan and dry ing equipment program to help producers finance the purchasing and erection of additional storage. Producers who are eligible for a loan may borrow SS'r of the actual cost of the storage and drying equipment at about 4^ interest. The loan can be made for a 5 year period with 4 annual installments. Each borrower must invest at least 15Sr of the net cost of the equipment. 1 Loans are now available to ' eligible producers to finance multipurpose drying equip tnent. This type of equipment can be used to dry grain and also cure tobacco. A producer who obtains a loan on this type of equipment must in vest 15% of the net cost. Racks used to cure tobacco cannot be included in the loan. Therefore, the producer would have to pay for the racks and invest at least 15% of the net cost of the dryer. "No Grazing" Period To Begin May 1st Farmers arc reminded that the "no-grazing" period for land diverted from pro duction under the 1969 feed grain and wheat programs will start on May 1. It will con tinue for the following five months until October 1. E. G. Brewer, Chairman of the Franklin County Agricul tural Stabilization and Con servation Service, explained that producers who are di verting land under the pro grams have agreed not to graze the land being diverted during a specific 5-month period of the growing season and not to harvest a crop from the land at any time r? ? ? ? ? ? during the year. Farmers who are taking part in the Conservation Re serve and Cropland Adjust ment Programs have agTeed not to graze or harvest crops from land diverted under these programs during the life of the agreements. These pro visions are important to pro ducers because any violation of them may result in reduc tion or total loss of payments otherwise earned under the programs. The human race, for all its boasting and puffing, is mere ly standing on the threshold of knowledge. 1 SEED CORN ILL LEADING VARIETIES COKER'S McNAIR WATSON PIONEER FUNK'S G De KALB LOUISBURG FCX SERVICE Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, N.
