The Uon and the lamb may lie down together some day, but Democrats and Repub licans are different. The best show on earth is the human race, and the per formance is continuous, and free. TO THE VOTERS OF LOUISBURG I want to thank you, the voters, for your confidence in me in Tuesday's election . Sims One of the traditions in crossing the Atlantic by air ii night flying, especially east bound. I have never felt that a night flight, even in the first -class section, could really amount to first-class travel when the passenger sits up through the night. Yet the great majority of crossings from New York and other cities depart this coun try at seven or eight in the evening. If the idea is to give the working man a chance to do a day's work on this side of the ocean and do the next day's in Europe, it makes sense in one way. But first - -class passengers often dont adhere to such rush sche dules. And after paying several hundred dollars more for first-class accomodations, what they really get is a seat with enough room to stretch out in, better care by stew ardesses and a lavish meal with plenty of wine and cock tails. But one must still sit up all night and get off the plane next morning in the suit he slept in! That isnt first-class care by any of the old stan dards of travel. The new Boeing giant may provide passengers the first truely first-class air service in years. Later versions will carry up to 490 passengers. The first, which Pan Ameri can will get in December, will carry about a hundred fewer passengers. There is enough space aboard one of the giants to provide passengers private rooms with beds. It will be interesting to see what the various airlines offer pass engers in various first -cl a* configurations. Last month I returned from Germany on Pan Am's 073 flight from Frankfurt, departing Germany at 2:30 p.m. This is a reasonably good time to take off west bound for one Is in the States by five p.m. But earlier take offs would be even more con venient for it is good to arrive in the States early enough to make a good connection and get to one's home by five or six for to the passenger re turning from Europe five or six really is ten or eleven p.m. dLsJL.
