of the safety program "is to
reduce the pain, suffering and
economic loss resulting from
logging and sawmill acci
dents," Weatherly said.

and Safety Committee, will
preside.

Play offs Start
The playoff for the
championship will begin
Tuesday night, July 29, with
the following games:

Union View
8:00 Franklinton Fabrics
and Wake Forest
9:00 Schrader and
Youngsville
The playoff is a double
elimination and is to continue
Thursday and Friday of this
week. Trophies will be given
to the playoff winner plus the
regular season winner.

This Week
The Annual Research on
Wheels Tobacco Tour will be
held on July 29, 30 and 31.
The tour will include a stop
at the Pinnell farm in Frank
lin County Wednesday, July
30, from 2:55 P.M. until 4:10
P.M., according to C. T.
Dean, Jr., County Extension
Chairman. The Pinnell farm is
located on Highway N.C. 56
in the Cedar Rock Com
munity. Watch for the large
Research on Wheels sign.
At the Pinnell farm Dean
said the group will observe an
Area Soil Fungicide and a
Type "E" Variety Test. The
Fungicide test is located on
hot black shank land. Fifteen
treatments were used in the
test and they are replicated
four times for a total of 60
plots. The Variety test in
cludes 17 varieties replicated
four times. It includes the
popular released varieties, the
four new ones released for
1970 planting and N. C.
Breeding Line 1076.
Dean said that anyone in
terested in tobacco is invited
to join the group at the Pin
nell farm and that free ice
cold watermelon and soft
drinks would be served.
