Birth Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Perry of Raleigh announce the birth of a son, Douglas Vann, Sep tember 28th at Rex Hospital, j Mrs. Perry is the former Jane I Gardner of Franklin County. Mrs. Pernell Joins Vance Institute . Mrs. Pernell transfers from Durham Technical Institute October 1 to the local school where she will continue to serve the community as co ordinator of the Adult Educa tion Center or Learning Lab oratory. She has held this position for approximately four years. Mrs. Pernell holds the Bachelor of Science degree and the Master of Arts degree from East Carolina and the Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently a part-time student in the graduate school of Adult Education at North Carolina State Univer sity. The professional organiza tions of which Mrs. Pernell Is a member are the North Caro lina Community College Adult Education Association, North Carolina Society for Programmed Instruction, Na tional Society for Program med Instruction, National Ed ucation Association and North Carolina Education As sociation. She is also a mem ber of the Liberty United Church of Christ at Epsom. Mrs. Pernell is the former Elsie Gray Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Hunt of Louisburg, Route 1. She is married to Julian Pernell, local building contractor. They have one son, Julian Pernell. Luck, Sr. and his wire and two sons, Jim. 3. and Philip. 3 months, moved into the pastorium, which has been newly painted and repaired on Tuesday, September 30th. The ladies or the W.M.U. sponsored a covered dish sup per at the church to welcome them into our church ramily and the community. Rev. Luck assumed his duties as pastor on Sunday A.M. October 5th. He has been pastor in Klbron. Va. and is now a student at Southeastern Seminary. The Lord's Supper was observed. On Sunday evening at 7:30 a special worship and rellowship hour was held to effietotty welcome thr^ new pastor and his ramily. At the close or the service Rev. and Mrs. Luck were asked to lead the way to the back or the church where they round a table laden with girts or rood and other userul things which had been brought by the church members. Rev. Luck expressed their appreciation and stated that as much as the gifts were appreciated that the spirit behind them and the prtsence or those there meant even more.
