Wayne and Polk counties.) Priceless Antique An antiqued trunk belong ing to Mrs. Burma Dunnegan was one of the most admired items at the Durham County fair this year. When the trunk that be longed to her.,grandparents was given to her, Mrs. Dunne gan decided to put the re finishing skills she learned in Extension workshops to good use. She antiqued the body of the trunk a rust ivory and preserved the natural walnut woodwork of the frame. For the inside lining, she used a shocking blue corduroy. When Mrs. Mary 1. Whit more, assistant home eco nomics Extension agent, ask ed the homemaker to put a price on the trunk, the lady said, "I couldn't do that. This trunk represents a lot of hard work, cherished memories and love." Proud of Quilt After three winters of work, Mrs. A. L. Meeler, Leasburg, has a quilt she can be proud of. The Caswell County home maker's quilt features over 1,600 squares of cotton fab ric, sewn together into a cath erdral window design. Mrs. Meeler is going to use the quilt as a bedspread and is planning to make a bolster cover to match. Donna Point er, assistant home conomics Extension agent, reports. Inspires Family After seeing what 4-H'er Kay Keen, Wayne County, did to improve her room, the family decided other rooms in the house needed sprucing up, too. While enrolled in a "room improvement" project, Kay painted her bedroom and made colorful draperies apd a bedspread. The family con cluded that the boy* room, master bedroom and den could use a face-lifting, too. Kay will take the leader ship during the re6t of the renovating, Mrs. Sarah T.
