Billy Johnson Enrolls In AFROTC Chapel H1U ? BlUy Johnson of Fnnklinton, N. C. a fresh man at the University of North Carolina here, has been selected for enrollment in the General Military Course of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney John son. During the next two years, he will compete with 50 other freshmen for entrance into the Professional Officer Course. To be selected, he must not only do well in his Air Force studies, but he must also maintain an overall "C" average or better in all work attempted at the Uni versity. If he is admitted to the P. 0. C., he will attend a four week field training camp dur ing the summer before his senior year. Upon graduation, he will be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force. He is a graduate of Frank linton High School, Franklin ton, N. C. Oean said that the Club members were most impressad with the use of computers in the cloth grading department. Visiting the plant were: Jeffery Holland, Chris Medlin, Ben Nelms, Blythe Nelms. Mr. Jean A. Benoy, Deputy Attorney General of the State of North Carolina, spoke on "Protection for the Consumer". The afternoon was devot ed to panel discussions, con cerning trade promotions and parking problems. Helpful in formation was given as to how the other towns have solved these problems. On Tuesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 22, Mrs. Pleasants will attend the training class for Credit Bureau executives of North' Carolina. Mia Ann Kannon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Farris Kannon, haa passed the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Board and has assumed a position aa phar macist at Kerr Drug In Cam eron Village. Miss Kannon is a graduate of Franklinton High School where she was co-editor of the annual, president of the Beta Club and Vice president of F.T.A. her senior year. The Franklinton native re ceived a B.S. in Pharmacy from the Univenity of North Carolina at Chapel HiU In June of this year. She was a member of the Kappa Epdlon Professional Fraternity, a member of the N. C. and the American Pharmaceutical As sociation. Miss Kannon served her internship at Wake Memorial Hospital during the summers of 1966 and '67 and at Kerr Drug Store during the sum mers of 1968 and 1969. Scout News Youngsviile -- Boy Scouts of Troop 588 in YoungsviUe returned home Sunday after camping from Friday after noon until Sunday at Scotch Bonnet Pier, Topsail Beach. Scouts who went were: David Jordan, Mike Jordan, Dennis Cyrus, Greg Underwood, Rob Underwood, BiUy Moss, Bob StaUings, Gordon Conyen, Burt Young, Stanley Young, Robert Weatherford, Marty Hall, Charles Woodlief, Tommy DeMent, Larry Woodlief.
