Louisburg College took the measure of (he Tornadoes from Brevard 89-69 in the first round game. The Canes, hitting on 21 of 26 free throw attempts in the first half, forged to a 41-34 half time lead and increased that lead to 53-39 in the first five minutes, of the second half. From that point on the Canes increased their lead steadily until the final margin of 20 points. Each time the 'Canes threatened to pull fur ther in from forward Robert : Wolf and guard Buzzy Kelbey j would pop in the baskets that enabled the Tornadoes to avoid a rout . Davis had seven assists and Paschall six as the ball handling in the second half was nearly perfect. Bowden popped in eleven of eleven free throws enroute to one of his better games of the young season.
